"fun party vs. best party"
I played Wiz8 a lot of times (and only a very good game makes you act like this) and my best party was

1) Fighter - Mook
2) Fighter - Mook
3) Fighter - Mook
4) Bard - Hobbit
5) Bishop - Faerie
6) Bishop - Faerie

but my fun party (and i mean really fun ... challenge, rising abilities, hard but fair fights, ...) was

1) Ninja - Human
2) Ninja - Faerie
3) Samurai - Mook
4) Ranger - Mook
5) Bishop - Faerie
6) Bishop - Faerie

At the end i prefer the fun party instead of the best party!

What do you think about it and what do you call your personal fun-vs.-best-party?

My, but aren't we a fun group ...

Its hard to qualify "best" ... I had one where I had 3 fighters, a bard, gadgeteer and a bishop. One fighter changed class to samurai, to give access to the oriental weapons and such .. I think I was able to "make the most" of that party. Each fighter type trained in a different area: Sword, Axe, Polearm.

My first party, a a diverse party imported from Wiz7, was one of my sentimental favorites.

They have all been fun

As fun parties I like themed partys the most:

Currently I have a ranged-weapon-party (2x Human Ranger, Dracon Ranger, Gnome Gadgeteer, Felpurr Ninja, Elven Bishop and Vi with Blunderbuss), the martial arts - team (Elven Monk, Human Monk + Felpurr Ninja & RFS81) and a pure caster-group (Gnome Alchemist, Dwarven Priest, Faerie Mage, Mook Psionic, Human Bishop and Elven Bishop, they are also dragging Urq along at the moment).

I simply love the rangers taking down a group of critters down, before these are able to get into melee range.

As a martial arts team it's fun being surrounded by a group of six fighters, with half of them just defending each round, because the Monks and Ninja are too stealthy to be aimed at. In turn, we take the fighters down one by one, often with critical hits.

And it's spirit lifting to see the group of 10 Rapax shrink, after the sixth Iceball / Noxious Fumes / Psionic Blast / Tsunami / whatever is cast on them in one round.
