"Forgotten Spot?"
LAST EDITED ON Dec-16-04 AT 01:29 AM (Pacific)

One problem I'm encountering (thankfully, only slightly) in my game is that I played a good portion of it when Wizardry 8 first came out.. and then I stopped playing for a couple of years. Now, I'm getting back into it and there's SOME areas I've forgotten about and some items I'm hanging onto because I don't realize I've already used them.

The subject of this post is Trynton...

I've killed the breeders, acquired my destiny, and used the idol. What remains is a locked door, an item behind bars (assuming this is the destinae dominus (no spoilers!)), and Don Barlone.

There's this one spot though, that I'm curious about:

This is the first section of Trynton (bough 1). I tried incense on it and no luck. There's some other stumps like this, but they're lit. I tried searching about this, but no results. Anyone know what goes here?

Also, a FAQ alluded to getting a quest from Don Barlone. What quest was that? This is where my memory is failing me, heh.

1. "Broken Spot?"
I think this, like the well in the Northern Wilderness (and the Rapax Queen) are broken/unfinished quests/features. They say a specific item is required, but no item has ever been found to meet its needs.

As to the locked door .... depending on which one it is ... Sounds like its that first one on the right, after entering the Rattkin tree scene, after crossing the broken bridge. If so, the shaman is the key (1). If not, and the locked door is the bamboo like cage, with the box behind ... revisit #1.

2. "Don's quest and other info"
The Don's quest is to send you after the Astral Dominae. It's a wild goose chase that gets you a quest item (fake AD). As for your picture, if that is the short platform at the top of a ladder when you first come out of the tree itself, then those tubs are Spell point regeneration fluid, doesn't always work on the first try, can HEX a party member, but when it does wprk it recharges ALL your party's spell points at once. A very useful spot to put a portal to when you can at it is "safe" from attacks.

3. "RE: Forgotten Spot?"
That looks like the spot where the "Bela powder" was supposed to go. Someone used an editor to find the connection between the unavailable powder and this mystery spot. We speculate that a path to Marten's Pagoda was supposed to appear.
