Any ending with the Diamond ring should be a winner, since it is the only (legal) way to get all four items from the City of Sky. But, I thought that the Ring and the Cameo Locket were mutually exclusive - you had to go for one or the other. Is that not true? If i'm not mistaken, you can get the cameo locket with a variation of the same bug you can exploit to get 6 diamond rings. Meet Bela without enough item slots for the stuff he gives you. When it drops you into NPC mode, choose "fight." I've never actually tried this though, and I'm not sure if it gives you a different start point in Crusaders or gives the same (now illogical) opening where Bela drops you off.   Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Llevram (5022 posts) Feb-12-00, 10:59 AM (Pacific) 4. "Diamond ring can 'vanish'" It has a set number of uses, whether you "use" it, or "inkvoke" it, they count the same. Simon -ur (2 posts) Feb-15-00, 01:51 AM (Pacific) 5. "RE: Which ending to take.." Well I just tried that. Dropped the cross, got diamond ring, met Bela with full inventory and answered no. Well you do meet in NPC mode, and you can choose figt but whem you kill him you're stuck, cause you cannot pick-up the key of the stars - remember, full inventory. So you cannot "exit" ("IMPORTANT ITEM") and you cannot drop some of your stuff, or can you? So you can only reset your computer. But the cameo is there just in front of your eyes. If you give an item to Bela to free some space, you cannot fight him, because at the moment you choose exit from the trade-give menu, he starts his speach again and as you're no longer full you don't meet him as NPC and cannot fight him. That's just too bad. Simon PS: are you guys sure greater demons give anything? I've been fighting for ages, only met G.Demons 6 times, only got magic books from them. But I have a whole collection of Scarab Necklaces, PK crystal, Mempo of Death, Sacred Sleepers, Ankhs...   Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Simon-- I'm pretty sure once you're in NPC mode you have to go to the TRADE menu and give him some items before you fight. This should allow you to take all the goodies at the end. As far as Greater Demons go...yeah, all the really rare weapons & stuff come from them and the Pit Fiends (which you fight if you choose the other door in the Temple). Among the good stuff I've gotten: Excaliber (4d8 4, 4 to hit, 2-handed) Diamond Eyes (3d4 4, 3 to hit, *great* secondary weapon) Zatoichi Bo (3d6 6, 3 to hit, best extended weapon) Glass Slippers (-8 feet, 99% mental resistance, women only) Cape of Hi-Zen (for monks, -3 special armor, 1 regen) I've also seen repeats of a few items from the Hall of the Dead (Muramasa Blade, Maenad's Lance, etc.) Had to fight a *lot* of battles to see all this stuff, and never found a real pattern for when it comes up. What I did was build my chars up to a level where they could just hack their way thru any battle (practically just holding down the enter key the whole time to have everyone Fight) and turning all sound and delays off. That way I could fight a battle, quit/nosave and re-fight without wasting more than 30 seconds or so. Good luck!   Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"The problem is when..." you exit the trade menu, Bela automatically starts his speach again, and when he asks the question, a "yes" ends the game and a "no" gets you the key - as you're no longer full. No way to fight anymore... Yesterday I just got into 2 consecutive fight which yielded Glass sleepers and Zatoichi bo, MIGHTY powerfull. hbk21god -ur (4 posts) Mar-21-00, 08:10 AM (Pacific) 8. "RE: Which ending to take.." When you fight BELA what you have to do is select equip with one of your PCs. When in the equip screen drop some items that you no longer need.
