1. "RE: ladders,books and Nage"
1. As far as I know you can't. Some say they can "look" down and go forward. Hasn't worked for me.

2. I right click on the book and choose invoke to add it to my spell book.

3. What's a Nage? What area of the game are you in?

2. "One successful ladder descent"
LAST EDITED ON Oct-17-00 AT 07:23 PM (Pacific)

I have so far managed two, but I couldn't tell what I did right the first time. The second time was in Shinwiki's hut. I approached it from the far side, like I would be jumping across the open pit and catching it on the way down - that worked. I wasn't really trying to be successful, I had given up on that .

Perhaps related to this, is the mini-ladders up and down to the toad walkways. I usually just walk off of them and take a little damage (short fall into water?). But I noticed just walking off the end of the pier, so to speak, I sometimes descended slowly and took no damage, as if I was walking down the ladder. But this is just the opposite of what I did in the hut, so go figure.

I'm glad I am in the crypt, where it is all pits and stairs - no ladders Though, I did spend the last half-hour or so of play early this morning stacking boxes and barrels in my (so far futile) attempt to get out ... I think I would prefer at a ladder at this point, or a decent grappling hook.

Tools for your Wizardry(r) toolkit

p.s. I haven't got that far so I can't help ya with the other two (not that I was any help with the ladders )

3. "That pesky naga! (no serious spoilers)"
I found hit and run tactics to be the best method.

Deplete the mana on any of your spell casters that can do long range attacks (stick to the really damaging spells, don't bother with the minor spells) by casting, then running away till you're out of combat range and they get to cast again. When you're depleted of mana (or stoned/paralyzed), run in and wail on her with your fighters then once you start getting into the critical stages of party death, retreat.

I don't like fighting in the first area because I'm trapped so what I did was I unlocked the door and bashed the naga for a bit then retreated through it and down the hall. I healed up and returned only to find the naga gone! At this point, I thought I had stumbled onto a game-stopping bug as I felt that I was now trapped and that I had to kill the naga to open the other door in the area.

Wasn't the case and I found the naga again in a new area to which I repeated my tactics above and eventually, she died.

There's a much MUCH harder battle coming up though, and my only advice for that is.. pray you get lucky <grins>
