"Bane King"
Hi again,

More questions on Wiz6:

Did anyone managed to kill Bane King on the first encounter in the Hall of the Dead? I have noticed that sometimes firestorm spell cast by myself or conjured Greater Demon hits him, but it occurs quite rarely and I was never patient enough to wait for the end.

Where can I find a Rod of Sprites to transfer into Wiz7?
If it is random combat loot (like Excaliber or Zatoichi Bo), then which monsters drop it?

What is your choice of 6 best magical items to transfer to Wiz7?

Taras

Hi,

in my experience the Bane King always vanished before I could deliver serious damage.
The Rod of Sprites can be bought from the Fairy Queen in the Enchanted Forest, in unlimited numbers (if you've got enough gold pieces, that is).
I transferred the Muramasa Blade, the Maenad's Lance, The Avenger, the Elven Bow and Ebony Armor or Mantis Stuff - almost exactly that kind of weapons/armor that was dropped by the four guardians.

Happy playing!

It is possible to kill the king on the first encounter. Requires lots of Firestorm and equipping and is worth nothing.

As for transferred items, I usually fight greater demons for some time to get additionnal stuff especially Z.Bo.

I too beat the Bane King once on the initial encounter. You must use cloud spells (firestorm, acid bomb, poison cloud, toxic vapors - firestorm being the most effecive) and the "equip" bug. You get experience, but no special treasure, and he still shows up in the other encounters.

For the most part, the best treasure to transfer is the weaponry carried by the guardians (The Avenger, Maenad's Lance, Elven Bow (if you have an elf), and Muramasa Blade). The Prometheus Horn will not transfer (despite my repeated efforts). If you find a Z-Bo in a random encounter, I hear that is very good and worth transfering. I've never managed to find one in Bane. I don't recommend transfering armor. Unless you are like the distinguished Lord Gram and have a character reason for doing so (i.e., so your star character can begin CoDS in full Ebony Plate), it is just too little bang for your buck: even the best armor only covers one body part on one character. A good weapon is much more useful.

4. "Equipment transfer"
For my party of

1.Lord,
2.Samurai
3.Faerie Ninja
4.Monk
5.Bard and
6.Bishop

I chose the following special items -

1.Excaliber (more powerful than Avenger and has regenerate +1)
2.Muramasa Blade
3.Faerie Cap (regeneration again and Rod of Sprites better than Bushido Blade)
4.Zatoichi Bo
5.Cat o' Nine Tails
6.Holy Basher (or Diamond Eyes)

Just as important is the non-special items you can take with you in unlimited quantities. You don't want to be running around Lost Guardia bare-bottomed, do you? I found I could bring the following equiment in addition to the special items above.

1.Helm and Coif, Full Plate(Upper and Lower), Copper Gloves,
Solleret, Ring of Stars (Also Bec de Corbin or Heater Shield
if you are bringing Avenger instead of Excaliber)

2.Studded Hawberk, Studded Legging, Kabuto, Cuir Gauntlets,
Buskins, Wakazashi, Cameo Locket

3.Rod of Sprites (x2), Sai (for variety), Ninja Garb, shuriken

4.Robes and Sandals (He has taken a vow of poverty, after all)

5.Studded Hawberk, Leather Legging, Leather Boots, Buckler shield
Chamois Gloves, Diamond Ring

6.Quilt Legging, Quilt Tunic, Chamois Gloves, Buskins, mitre, and
LOTS of potions - Hv Stamina, Hv Heal, Cure Poison, Cure
Paralysis, Cure Lesser Cnd., Cure Stone, Resurrection. (I sell
the last 2 in New City for mucho $)

You can also transfer the Ankh of Life in unlimited quantites.
This way, I come in fully equipped and not running around looking
for something to cover my buns.

I got the Rod of Sprites in the encounter with the Insane Skeleton in the Hall of the Dead (where you also get the Skeleton Key).

Elsewhere, I mentioned this EXACT problem. But to refresh, My priest let loose with a couple, and I do(!) mean a couple of fire spells and toasted the Bane King. He certainly was upset at our final meeting. The only item he EVER leaves is the key for the queen's tomb.

Hagaar.
