"Skills or not...."
I have one more question.

In Wiz7, if you have a fighter carrying a sword and an axe, then that character would gain points in both the axe skill and the sword skill as he/she used them in the game. So my question is, has anyone seen thier characters develope thier skills through fighting? Not necessarily at leveling up. I have a warrior with an axe and shield. I have a feeling that I have to at least give one point to my shield skill so my warrior can gain points in it. Am I correct in thinking this? Or can you only gain points at leveling up?

Jay

My impression that skills only go up with levelling up. Anyone have different experiences?

(paraphrased)
Many skills improve through use, some only via training in guilds or when levelling up.

I have not seen skills increase with use. The only time I've been able to increase them is when leveling, and the amount of increase has varied between 1 and 3. It appears to be somewhat arbitrary on how many skill pts you get as you level.

Combat and casting skills, especially sword, axe, dagger 'n' stuff DO increase with use - not noticeably at first maybe, but when you're lvl 10+ you'll notice, 'cause the next level takes a while to achieve.
The skill points you receive seem to depend on the class - fighters always getting less than wizards - and the intellect.
My fighter gets 2 per lvl, my first wizard 3 and my intelligence 18 wizard 4.

Skill points: INT 12 - 3, INT 16 - 4, INT 20 - 5, INT 24 - 6/level
Skills: As far as I know, the following skills increase when practicing them: magic schools (vinecraft, etc.), sorcery, weapon skills, and traps and locks.
The following skills do not seem to improve by practice: athletics, artifacts. forge, scout, and gallantry. I have no experience with other skills at present.
