A New Table Top Science Fiction Role-playing Game Set in a World of Real Science

Aurora is a science fiction game set in a world of real science. The broad diversity of technical and academic expertise behind Aurora is what makes it unique. By working with experts in fields of biochemistry and anatomy, we have developed very plausible aliens that are much more than the everyday bumpy-headed humanoid. Likewise, by working with anthropologists, cultural historians, theologians, and archaeologists, we have developed alien cultures and societies that are more engaging and more alien than any other current role-playing game. And, of course, we've worked with physicists and engineers to ensure that all the technology (from handguns to starships) are plausible extrapolations from current technology. (We will not violate the laws of physics!) Our aim was to create a fantastic world of imagination and discovery where everything is real - or could be real.

Aurora introduces a new concept in die-rolling based task resolution: the Failure Dice system™. This system incorporates a simple change in normal dice mechanics: instead of rolling to succeed, you now roll only to see if you fail. This seemingly trivial change has profound ramifications. You have much better control of your character's actions, and can decide when to be heroic and when to play it safe. If you're always unlucky with dice rolls, this system is for you! And if you're lucky (or are just a risk taker), you'll likely enjoy pushing your character's skills to the limit.

Since it can be nerve-wracking to buy something (like a new game book) sight-unseen over the Web, we've included a large free sample section on our web site at www.auroragames.com. Browse through the book and take a look at the system, universe, aliens, and art. When you decide to buy the game, just go to the Purchase page and order one (or more) game CDs!

We also provide online forums and contact email addresses so that you can discuss the game and ask questions. We take advantage of the flexibility of the Web for publishing updates, add-on materials, and special features. Do please our site at www.auroragames.com to see what's new.
