"Emulators for Wiz 1"
I'm a huge Wiz fan and just found on the web an emulator to play Wizardry. (Thank you Dustin's Wizardry page)

My big question is this...Can I download an emulator or do I have to buy one? Also, how do I get the game to work once I have an emulator?

Please feel free to email me directly.

Thanks for any and all help!

Chuck

1. "Why emulate?"
That is, if you can find the Ultimate Wizardry Archives anywhere. Do the emulators preserve the good old bugs/tricks, like the identify item #9, S & J?

Since I posted that message, I discovered how to get the emulator to work...and YES, the old secrets/bugs do work...Now I'm trying to figure out to get into Wiz 3 to play it.

As far as I know, there are three ways to play Wizardry 1 now.

1. Get an Apple emulator and play the original.

2. Get a copy of the DOS port, it is included in the Ultimate Wizardry archives.

3. Get an NES emulator and play the Nintendo port. That version has the best graphics/sound, and some other nice touches, but is also broken in some ways (No Shield 2/ 3 etc.)

4th, if you accept legalities, same as NES, SNES port, Wizardry I-II-III translation. Best graphics, especially with a lomilwa spell.
that is, if you understand the legal issues surrounding roms, even those of carts that never made it here.

You are only as brave as the challenges you take on
