"Trynton - Giant Bat"
I remember reading a long time ago that no one had figured out how to engage the giant bat that is sometimes seen wandering the sky in Trynton. I've started playing again and just killed Don with my lvl 9 F/B and Myles, and while I haven't seen the Bat yet, I was thinking about giving it another try.

well who would have thought it... I was able to hit the Giant Bat with a fireball as I exited the Ratkin Tree from the vine bridge you can fall off of. This is the only time I've ever managed to hit the bat with anything, however, despite multiple reloads and hits, it retreated every single time =(.

Can rangers shoot as far as fireball can be cast? B/c if so then there's a chance that bat can be instant killed.

So close =(.

The Giant Bat wanders back in forth on its route - you can see it (if the view distance allows), but it can see you only in one spot: just near the place where you use stone idol. Go east along the path and stop at the spot when it turns left (to lead into the house later).
Just wait there till the bat notices you or whatever.

That explains so much: that's the one spot where the bat came up and attacked my party once. I'd always thought it strange that all the other times, it had stayed so far a way, and fled anytime that I was able to engage it with missile fire.

I have a vague memory of it attacking and killing it once with missile fire. I think my party was standing near the Trynnies' ammo storage.

Exactly, the bat attacked me at the idol base before I went to meet the shaman in a current game. I recalled having a fight with it i the long, long ago. The first time I saw it in my first game, I felt a wonderful awe at such a detail.

Lots of awe-inspiring moments in this design.

Frank
