I am just now - finally - getting to play Wiz8 for the first time (had it for years but never could get it to work on my old computer - aaargh!) Today I created a sample party and played around in the lower monastary just to get a feel for how the game works; think I've got it figured out, except for (so far) one thing:How can I get a character to Use non-weapon items during combat? (Things like Sneezing Powder and healing potions.)
Do the items I want to Use have to be kept in a certain slot? I get the same results whether I'm trying to access items from the Party inventory or personal ones - every time I try to Use an item while in combat mode, a message pops up, telling me, "During combat, use the Equip action." So when I'm setting up the next round, I click on a character's weapons icon and choose Equip. But as the round plays out, that character just bashes, slashes, or gags helplessly; the game does not pause to let me choose and item to Equip.
I've tried puttings items directly into their hands while NOT in combat mode, but that doesn't work, either; neither potions, powders, nor bombs are accepted into any of the equipment slots.
Could someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Since I can't find any mention of this online, I have to think it's one of those things that's obvious to everyone but me, and I'm probably going to smack myself upside the head and go "Duh!" when I find out what it is.
