"Mouse only?"
I have a disability that precludes using the keyboard. Can Wizardry 8 be played acceptably using only a mouse/trackball?

Actually, I can assign one or maybe two of the buttons to send keystrokes and one-time stuff like typing in character names, I can just get help with... but beyond that, the only input I have is a mouse/trackball. Would that be sufficient or not?

Most of the game can be played without a keyboard, but there are are critical pieces that require it (quest completion, bypassing certain areas by answering a question and character creation).

If you could get help at these spots, you might be able to do it.

LLevram, I could figure out most things, but I can not seem to be able to make a party walk using the mouse. You can pan left and right and up and down using the right moust button, but nothing would make the party walk forward. Maybe I am missing something, I have been know to do that.

I never tried before.

I have to hold down both buttons at the same time to move.

You don't really have to. In options, set toggle mouse look on. then when you click with the right mouse button it toggles mouse look on or off. that way you can click the right button then press and hold the left. As long as you are pressing the left you are moving and the mouse will pan up/down and left/right. Kind of cool really.

Rick, I think it has to do with the demo. there were no instructions with it, and many of us played the demo a lot. I guess I just found what worked and kept using it.

12. "That makes sense ..."
... but I think underscores my point ... folks only read so much of the manual before they jump in and get going (I know I do). If the demo was the tutorial, I'd kill two Flying snakes with one bullet stone ... or something like that

There are things, that I guess are subtle, like the press CTRL to stop action (making it easier to target individual spells on flapping monsters) that are easy to overlook (and probably hard to fid in the manual).

Actually, if there is a section called, "Quick start guide for the terminally impatient", I will give that a once over. Otherwise, not knowing all the features of the game gives it better replay value. I'm still learning stuff. Or, I'm forgetting stuff and learning it again. Not sure which.

I just know I put that manual somewhere. It was only three years ago; why can't I find it? Funny how some of the tricks come right back when you play again and others are lost forever ... unless I find that darn manual.

There might be a way althoug ypu you would use it only once. If you have played the game before and know all responces you might be able to enter in your ask about file and then call up the responce when asked. Don't know if it would work but...
