"Running Wizardry 5 on 1.3 ghz machine"
Does anyone know how to slow this game down? I am getting hopelessly lost in the dark as I can't get the game to slow down enough to say ouch (can't detect the walls). I tried Mo'Slo but it won't run well on machines over 200 mhz or on windows xp. Help!

moslo requires a bit of math, to figure out how much slowdown you need.
1.3 Ghz = 1,300 Mhz
Wiz 5 should run well on a 75 Mhz computer.
75 / 1300 * 100 = 5.8, though Moslo doens't do decimal, so round that down to 5

then, make a new shortcut, by rightclicking the actual executable, and changing the target line (in its properties) to something like this:
moslo /5 wiz5.exe
see where the 5 goes? right next to the / foreslash.

Windows XP, does not really have DOS, but a DOS emulator. XP is based on NT kernal, and doesn't allow DOS to do anything much. usually, you won't get sound with games.
VDMsound and Dosbox were developed as free alternatives to VirtualPC

I haven't tried 5 using dosbox, but it works fine with CoDS. The only complaint is that the sound effects are a little scratchy. The music plays fine, the message speeds are great. I can try 5 tonight and see.

Actually dosbox works well - I have no music but at least I can hear my steps and see when I hit a wall. Thanks!
