"Hi all"
Back after 4 1/2 weeks. Miss me?

I just wanted to thank you all for being intelligent, thoughtful, funny and considerate people. I know I can usually get a good laugh or at least a smile when I come to this board after a bad day. I have been dealing with people that are none of the above so this is a nice place to be. Yes, I'm a little depressed, but I'll get back to reading the four forums I have left to catch up on( the longest of course---I should be done just in time for me to leave on Thursday for another maybe 3 or 4 weeks) and I'm sure I will find a laugh or two.
Thanks,
jersey

Dunno if it's considered a classic, but since it's the only mel brooks film i've seen, i'd have to go with Robin Hood:men in tights?

11. "RE: You all must be too young..."
Young Frankenstein (that's pronounced Frahnkensteen): Igor (pronounces Eye-gor) flirting with Victor's fiancee (Madeleine Kahn, delicious, sigh), much to her dismay.

One of the finest non-wiardry related movies of all time.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-12-00 AT 07:43 AM (Pacific)

Dr. Frankenstein says the same lines (first) with his fiancee, then after he leaves, Igor sidles up to her and they run through the whole thing again (thus her "?!" intonations)

"One of the finest non-wizardry related movies of all time."

Well, this is the off topic section

More quotes:

Igor: Dr. Frankenstein...
Dr. Froederick Frankenstein: "Fronkensteen."
Igor: You're putting me on.
Dr. Froederick Frankenstein: No, it's pronounced "Fronkensteen."
Igor: Do you also say "Froaderick"?
Dr. Froederick Frankenstein: No... "Frederick."
Igor: Well, why isn't it "Froaderick Fronkensteen"?
Dr. Froederick Frankenstein: It isn't; it's "Frederick Fronkensteen."
Igor: I see.
Dr. Froederick Frankenstein: You must be Igor.
(He pronounces it ee-gor.)
Igor: No, it's pronounced "eye-gor."
Dr. Froederick Frankenstein: But they told me it was "ee-gor."
Igor: Well, they were wrong then, weren't they?

Y. Frank/Mel Brooks at his best...

...but what's your all-time favorite line in cinemetic history...?

Mine...(in a cold, steely whisper) "Go ahead...make my day..." good ol' Clint Eastwood/Dirty Harry Callihan.

Some of my favorite passages (some from movies), are at:
http://www.tk421.net/essays/quotes.shtml

I'm rather convinced that I'm the only person who has ever lived that knows where all of them come from. See how many you can recognize...

There's more quick quips at:
http://www.tk421.net/essays/wit.shtml

And of course the sound files at:

Need I go on and mention the babes gallery...?

There are so many good ones out there, but this is the only one I have a bumper sticker of

How about worst lines?

Oh, gee. Hands down, all-time worst lines, you need look no further than any of a number of Ed Wood's classicly bad (soooo bad they are very entertaining!)epics.

One of my favorite "Best of the Worst" is from the renouned worst movie ever made--Plan 9 From Outer Space. While cops stand around viewing a dead body one remarks:

"This man's been murdered..." (pregnant pause) "...and SOMEONE'S responsible!"

THAT, my friends, is cinema!

Err... I'm terrible at remembering exact quotes, and am too lazy to check my video collection, so I'll paraphrase my two favorites from plan 9:

I think as long as these humans keep thinking... we're gonna have some problems.

Modern women. They've been this way all down through the ages.

Yeah...those are priceless. I'm gonna have to dig my Wood movies back out an watch 'em again!

Of course, for all-time bad lines I could nominate the ENTIRE script for Glen or Glenda...
