"Woohoo...taken a year to manage to hex edit a savegame O_O"
After playing the game through six times, and it officially becoming my favourite PC game *ever*; I tried to get a friend into wiz8...after a few days he mailed me saying it was really dull and difficult; and were there any cheats. Took me aback slightly, as its definately a game thats much better without trying to cheat.

Well, after a while of searching, found no working cheats, so decided to try hex editing savegames. After a year off and on, finally managed to get it exactly as I want it!

Anywho, if anyone wants a zipped folder with two savegames in (one completely start of game with 6 members, all over 4,500,000,000 exp. each; and other 8 members all over 4,500,000,000 exp. each in Trynton), give me a shout at steven_munn9@yahoo.co.uk =)

I've got these savegames awaiting confirmation on about fifteen cheat sites. I'm personally not going to use them, cuz the game is MUCH better without cheating. But if you're curious how the game turns out with level 51 characters from the beginning...well, give it a go =)

Steve

(scroll down, there are two editors that work fine, they've been there all the time you've been working on it)

Those people who've already been given the save games I created, an update:

May 9 '05 UPDATE

I have discovered something odd if you use the second savegame (where you begin at Trynton).
This savegame has characters imported from Wizardry 7; and for some reason if you use this game, the following occurs:

* No Blunderbuss / Musket / Rocket Launcher avaliable for sale in Umpani Base Camp. I personally tried to pickpocket them from other characters, but to no avail...max I've discovered is the Zip Gun from Rattus Rattus, a musket pickpocketed from Sgt Glumph and a blunderbuss pickpocketed from General Ymar.

*Killing Sgt Kunar in Umpani Base Camp (the spy, remember?) instantly turns your faction rating for Umpani to neutral. No biggie, but be careful where you tread.

* Engineers are unable to combine light crossbows / slings to make doubleshot slings/crossbows. Annoying.

*If creating anything using an Alchemist, you can lose combined items. If you have, say, 5 x Hvy Heal and 4 x Cure Disease, and you try to combine, they'll all disappear. Only identical amounts can be combined; ie 5x Hvy Heal & 5x Cure Disease.

* The hex edit has completely erased all previous events from the game. Therefore, if you want to, for example, go back to the Monastery and ransack it, or go back and ransack Arnika bank again, feel free. However, the second you go back into the bank, you'll be attacked. Also, the automaps are unfilled in.

* When meeting Don Barlone, he will have a VERY short amount of stock to sell. This means you miss out on a few half decent things. However, seeing as I generally kill him the first time I meet him (in order to get the Astral Dominae from his corpse), doesn't really matter much.

*All shopkeepers seem to have much less stock. If anyone notices anything particularly huge that's missing from a shop, please tell me at steven_munn9@yahoo.co.uk so I can add it into the readme.

Please note these are only for the savegame where you begin in Trynton. I'll add to this as and when I find anything else to add.

When I was originally asked for a cheat, I downloaded just about every trainer, editor etc I could find from the web. Every single one crashed the game if used. The two on the geocities site did actually edit the game, but if I tried to load the game I'd edited, it'd crash. My friend found the same problem. Hence why I had to go in and try it myself -_-

4. "No Problem Editing"
I didn't have any problem editing my games with the editors from the link i posted, but i didn't try giving them ridiculous amounts of XP, either, so maybe that is the problem.
But i have given test parties almost every item available to try them out, and up to 10 levels worth of XP and a wide variety of attribute and skill bonuses without any crashing.
There may be a patch issue, but i didn't see a warning about that anywhere, just a thought because i patch only to 001, so i can PP at will.

I didn't try giving them huge XP, its just the way the hex editor turned out when I edited the ASCII manually. I re-tried the editor earlier on, and tried adding 1 XP to each character...once again it crashed. I'm just happy I've got something to work, and several people seem to have the same problem - had 19 mails asking for a copy of my saves today =)

Maybe it only affects a few versions, I dunno, but its definately not an isolated incident.

Oh, HEX editor. Neither of the editors in the link i posted is a hex editor. Unless i don't know what "hex editor" means, and only think it means that you access the game code directly. The two editors at the Samurai Jack site open as character stat sheets which you can then change at will, up to max attributes, skills, as many XP as you want, add spells, one lets you add objects from a list. No ASCII editing.

I tested one today, and gave a solo 5,000,000 XP and it worked fine. Rather tedious, advancing all those levels at once...

The only thing i haven't found an editor to do for me is put my party somewhere on the map other than the 3 usual start locations.

Nah, I've been hex editing games for donkeys years. Wiz8 is the most tricky yet though, to find the exact values for exp etc.

Wiz8 is, however, one of the games that gets completely spoilt if you cheat.
