"Thorwalian, the RoA Spammer"
Is it just me, or is Thorwalian spamming this board for his own private gain. I have read 10 spam posts by him today alone. That ticks me off.

Llevram can you chat with him and tell him to cease and desist, or better yet lock him out. If he wants to post about how good the game is, fine, but he post his URL and SPAMS.

I am going to use me sword on him yet. I have a forum and I haven't posted it here. I don't mind his URL in his signature, but hawking his wares constantly is p***ing me off.

1. "Maybe it's just you :)"
I didn't really see how his posts were any different from mine. I did check out the link again, and I do see it is a bit more commercial than mine, though whether he is getting any personal gain out of it not ...

For me, an RofA fan, I was interested to see just what it was, checked it out, ... not interested, so I won't go there again.

I imagine he just found our site and wanted to be sure we all knew where to go for RofA help/chat/whatever. Or at least I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, since he did take the time to register.

Gotta side with Lady A on this one, Professor. (Of course, to do otherwise can cause significant bloodloss! ) It's kinda hard to spam your own site.

Dear Lady, do bring your swords. Then you and I can set around our campfire enjoying a good ol' spam RoAst...

...or, in this case, weenies...

3. "Guilty of overzealous posting..."
I think all he's guilty of is overzealous posting, which shouldn't really be a crime on a message board. I agree with Lady A that it serves no purpose to attach a "come check out my site" message to EVERY SINGLE ROA DISCUSSION that's going on -- probably a better way to do it would have been to have one message in the "other Sir-Tech games" forum telling us about his site... his way I just get a bunch of new message threads, and have to click through all of them just to find out about his site again.

So, it doesn't seem like something he should be booted for or anything, but maybe we can just point to him that there is a less obtrusive way of getting the same point across.

Well, that would be fine, if he only posted about RoA in RoA threads, but he posted in any thread. The one that ticked me off, was in Wiz 8. No one was discussing RoA.

His forum is dead, and he thinks that by SPAMMING he can create life. I have no problem with him putting the URL link at the bottom of his posts, that is just fine.

You don't SPAM, your link is just at the bottom of your posts. Besides, you are the boss here--no one is going to get p***y with you, especially me. LOL

9. "Maybe it's just me :)"
Since the VN boards were kind enough to let me use their forums for free advertising, I feel obligated to extend the same courtesy.

Though the line has to be drawn somewhere (i.e. That G r i m o i r e guy was a classic case of being your own worst enemy, he would come on, flame sir-tech up one side and down the other and finish off with, "oh, yeah, be sure to get my game when it comes out")

As to Thorwalian, I went back and did a search for every post of his and this is what I found:

1. Every where there was a post pertaining to Star Trails or Realms of Arkania, he posted.
2. Not all his posts had "his" URL

So, from this I conclude he recently found our site, registered and is trying to spread the word about the RofA series. And like I said, once you see one of his posts, you know whether you want to follow his link or not.

If it continues to be a problem, I will take care of it. I don't want to get into Big Brother mode any more than I have to (or at all). As is my advice with any post/poster you find annoying: "ignore it ... it usually goes away. Paying undue attention to it ususally fans the flames"
