Is there a way to prevent going insain whe you get it? Should I have goten the Chaos Morilious first?

1. "You need the helm"
.. of serenity. If you have done the shaman quest, you will have it. Equip it and give the Destinae Dominus to that character and the insanity will stop.

2. "Not Insane At All"
If you are wearing the Helm of Serenity before you get the DD, and stay in the RPC dialog mode, click on the Trade button so you can open the inventory of the char who's wearing the Helm and place the DD in that char's personal inventory, you never go insane to start with.

Also, you can get the DD to its Temple without the Helm fairly safely by setting a Portal at the Tample first, then going to get the DD, and Portal back to the Temple and then Sane Mind or Restore yourself once it's placed. (again, by putting it directly into one char's inventory, you avoid Insaning the whole party.
