Unless of course you could fashion some kind of exo-battle suit. With attached shoulder-mounted rocket launchers and mini-guns. Integrated jet-pack, pulse-laser rifle and an ion-disrupter cannon for those really tough battles. Ok, I got a little carried away there. I was working on a CRPG in a similar vein to the Wizardry games; maybe I aught add something like that, though I really didn't want any high technology in my setting. "There's always room for jello. I mean you've got a guy who adds an Armaggedon attachment to his Omni-Gun. Surely he could create some spiffy kinds of armor. Something lightweight, very strong with radar attachments (like X-ray) built in so you wouldn't need all those little gizmos he's creating. I remember one idea of them adding a bladder to a piece of armor, that would react and puff out (or expand quickly) thus hitting the opponent back. Just that kind of whacky thing you would expect in Wizardry ... I guess that idead got morphed into the mirror armor. I guess the original line didn't hold out, in trying to balance them against a bard (for roughly equal numbers of gadgets/instruments).
