LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-05 AT 00:22 AM (Pacific)Ok, you guys coulda warned me about the dragon.
M A J O R - S P O I L E R
I have to admit though, very cool battle. First time through I ran past it, to the next set of bubbles and escaped. But I told my wife about it and she wanted to see this Dragon, so I pulled up the Quick-Save before and showed her this beast, except this time it attacked me....
I figured, nothing to lose, and had kinda anticipated trying, so had my spells up already. Unfortunately, he was so far away, that I only had 3 people attacking him. My RFS-81 Gadgeteer with his OmniGun MK 8, my Elven Ranger with his Elven Bow and PeaceMakers (which only lasted the first round) and Mystic Arrows, and my Draconic Lord with his Siege Arbalest and Lightning Bolts.
Round 1: Seeing Nessie had 0 Fire resistance, my Bishop created some bubbles as he tried a Lightning strike at the monster (guess fire underwater was a bad idea). In return, the beast sent some Draining Cloud after us, which made me a bit nervous... first 'cloud' spell. The 3 Ranged attackers did about 200 points of damage (1/4th of its HP).
Round 2: Well, not certain it would work underwater (still not certain if it helped at all), my Bishop put forth a Purify Air spell to resist the last Round's spell, and Nessie retaliated with an EarthQuake. In a word.... Ouch. Did about 280 points of damage this time. Over half way.
Round 3: Concerned, my Bishop who was at 2 HPs from the Earthquake cast a Heal All at his highest level of green (too risky to aim for a yellow/orange). Nessie replies by casting Concussion on my RFS-81, killing him, and reducing our Round's damage back to under 200 (198 total).
Round 4: Still not fully healed, my Bishop repeats the Heal All, casting it -just- before Nessie does a 2nd EarthQuake spell on us, reducing some of my team to single digit healths. Only 168 points of damage total.
Round 5: I have not enough Magic to Heal All again, so I accept that I'm going to lose the battle. My RFS-81 is dead, one more earthquake, even at a level 1 is going to kill everyone in my party, and if I'm lucky, a concussion will only kill 1. He's at under 100 HPs, so I pray for a Concussion. Instead, old Nessie Hex's me, allowing my Ranger (since suddenly my Lord couldn't do any damage) to take her out with the damage scores of 32 (first action), 44(2 attacks 2nd action)and 35.
I find Davy Jones Locker, sit there and actually Camp in scuba gear. Twice.
I do hope it doesn't get tougher than this because I'm all out of my 'cool' ammo, though using it to take out a Dragon was very nice....
So anyhows, I come up to this really.... strange place with Rynjin all over the place. Approaching on a bridge, I see there's no way to avoid a full frontal assault from on the bridge, so I dive into the water on the right. Hiding behind brick, I approach the beach, but the Crabs detect me and start to move towards me. I back off, walking backwards, deeper into the water until I feel it's safe to initiate an attack, and take out a horde of Rock Crabs and Venom Crabs. Re-approaching the beach after a bit of a tussle, I see 2 Battle Lords, 1 Chief, 8 Sentry, 2 Thralls and an Empath as I lift my eyes over the bridge. Happily, they don't see me, so I initiate a surprise round of combat.
Surprise Round: My Mage casts a level 7 FireStorm right over their heads, encassing ALL of them in the FireStorm.
Round 1 - 12: I run, fleeing into the water with them all giving chase. When they retreat, I chase them in return, until the only one alive is the Chief (who had completely shrugged off the effects of the Firestorm and is unscathed), oddle enough, he was also the only one that never moved, standing by the fireplace the whole time his people died to a firestorm (even when underwater )
Stepping up to the beach, I 'surprise' the Chief again, He casts Haste, I throw shurikens, and launch bullets, arrows, and bolts at him. He casts silence, I repeat tactics. He casts Cerebral Hemmorage, I repeat tactics. He casts Hex, I run up close and finish him off.
Glumph received a name change of Grump after a few of his comments, but other than that, Mission Accomplished. I'm going to head back in now and 'clean up' the area some more. See if I can't find out who this Jan-Ette is and if there's anything in the area to aide me in solving her mission that killed her. ;)
