"Ladders?"
I can't climb ladders. I'm inside the tree in trynton, where there's a big ladder you have to climb. After trying to climb it for about 5 minutes, I found out that if I hold the shift key while approaching it from a certain angle, I can get half way. Then there's a broken step in it. How the hell do I get further up that ladder?

This is crazy, why did they put ladders in the game when they don't work?

Hmmm...that is just weird. I just put the hand on the ladder and I go up or down the ladder with no problems. You shouldn't have to click on any other key...just click on the run and up or down you should go.

Anyone else have a reason why the ladder doesn't work?

I think Odd is actually trying to CLIMB the ladders manually (like in Gothic for example, where you use the game controls to go up and down ladders, ropes etc). In Wiz8, there is no such need, you just walk up to the ladder / rope, and simply left-click on it, the game will take over momentarily, and do the climbing / descending for you.

Hope that clarifies it for you.

5. "rtfm?"
I thought it was the time to cite rtfm, but actually all it says is:
Opening Doors, Activating Machines, Etc.: Move your Cursor over the door or device. If a hand icon appears, click to open the door or activate the device.
Hardly a reference to a ladder, as i must say. Oh, and there are two places (ropes iirc) where you do not get a hand when you approach them. You need to approach them even closer, and you'll get a message box about leaving that area. I'm always worried when i reach one of those, since you might fall to your death at other places, but here you need to come close. Oh well.

6. "If you don't see the hand ..."
You are:

a) not close enough to the ladder
and/or
b) not putting your cursor over the "hot spot"

When both conditions are met, the mouse cursor turns into a hand, and you click on the ladder (or other object to interact with).
