"Hssssstttt....enjoyed the Temple (mini-spoilers)"
I finished the Serpent Temple (I think) the other day and I thought it was a lot of fun. I thank the makers for the auto map and flags. If their intent was to make sure one couldn't memorize the Temple hallways and paths, or at least make it difficult, it sure worked on me. I spent quite a few days trying to get the lockpicks to H'thark (sp?). Then After I killed someone, don't know who, I had the correct key of a sudden. <shrug> Perhaps it was in a chest.....

I had to ask a freind about summoning the spirit. I missed putting the Serpent Idol in the slot in the library. Wasted a few days on that one. After that I cruised. Had to take two shots at Naga but the battle with Elyssia (sp?)and friends was done in one take. Just barely.

One item I did not use was the Iron Rod from the fire pit in the torture chamber.
Does anyone know what it is used for? Spoiler OK.

Gross graphical glitches throughout the Temple. Monkeys stuck halfway in walls and doors. Snakes halfway in the floor. Once I was stuck in a floor and had to reboot to continue. Had a couple of doors that opened once and stayed open. Every time I went through them the sound effect of the door opening and closing went off. That sorta thing.

One thing that puzzled me was the time I was at the elevator maze. I was standing right next to the edge of the elevator as it was going up and down. (I was at the upper most part of the elevator shaft) I heard something being crushed down below and looked down to see what it was. After the elevator was through pulping the luckless monkey, it returned to the top and got stuck. Blood was a-flying and I noticed that my PC (position 6) was being crushed. All I did was look down. I did not move forward. Oh well. Lesson learned. Hopefully.

Now I'm off on some quest to a castle or something like that.

1. "Poke Poke"
Apparently (I haven't tested this) you can use the hot poker on the prisoner to obtain the same information that giving him his lock picks yeilds.

Use poker to press button in fire, ramp to chest opens. Not that much of a spoiler as I dropped all the contents as worthless.

I found that I was able to push the button w/o the poker standing with my back to the secret door.

Right now I am down in a hole (Stout Mines??). I've been crushed, dropped, trapped & cursed. I'm walking aroung looking like a bad dream, talking to some remarkably stupid NPC's while being blasted to bits by some Man Trap type plants. This game has certainly taken a sharp right turn as far as difficulty goes. Have yet to get that blasted flying dragon thing. Ran after 'im once but it was dark and I lost him. Thats when I found the hole/cave/mine? in the ground where I'm currently stuck.

4. "HANG IN THERE, MARC..."
...explore carefully. You know what they say: the mine is a terrible thing to waste!

Wondering...do chests give random items, like in Wizgold/CDoS?

5. "The same random items"
I have not been overly impressed by the contents of the chests. To be fair, had I not cheated in the beginning, I would probably find the items a little more useful. Sure, the occasional ankh or puzzle key is to be found but I have only run across a couple decent items. Find a chest, open it up and you will probably find; powder, scroll, gem, bag, bag, mace/sword/knife. Half the fun is opening them up without getting drilled by the trap. (no lock picker in my party)

I don't think I am in the Stout Mines yet. This is more a weird prison/trap/puzzle. I have gone through to the point of killing the Boorge(sp?) Queen and at least 3/4 of the population. I am now engaged in an attempt to kill 3 Jungle Lilies and get out of the place. Oh yeah, to uncurse myself as well. Lookin' kinda ugly these days.

6. "YEAH, MARC..."
...with the mantraps/lillies/etc. it brings to mind the old adage:

"Curses! Foliaged again!"

7. "Flora Galore and the Lily Trio "
**mini spoilers**

Yeah...I got foliaged all right. I abandoned the plant trio, walked around and found some sort of skills test. Run though this, run through that, hold you breath forever, try not to get scorched. I forget what the point was.

Anyway, after that I made my way back to the last puzzle room and managed to get out on the left and right using three wooden sticks. Did anyone use four or more wooden sticks? I kinda thought I had missed an area of the prision.

I have yet to figure out how to uncurse myself. After killing the Queen, the narration talked about the curse not being broken. Is it as simple as going to the Village Preacher or does the answer lie back in that dreadful hole? My Priest is about one or two levels from getting the "Remove Curse" spell and am not too sure that would work anyway.
