"Do Races have resistances and weapon proficiencies in Wiz 1-3"
I'm asking this question because I found this website that lists resistances and weapon specializations for classes for Wizardry. However I haven't seen any of this on any other websites and have been searching for quite a while on Google and through other Wizardry sites.

I'm thinking this might apply to later Wizardry games, but it could apply to the first ones.

Anyways here is a link to the site.

http://kalynuik-s.tripod.com/wizardry1.html

If you scroll down to the Race section is lists magic resist, and certain mobs you hit better against, also certain weapon types you hit better with I guess? Is this info true?

Not sure what proficiency helps, whether it helps with to hit chance, or damage, or both.

Basically I have all Gnomes because they have a better balance of stats and are easy to make samurai or Lords if you roll well enough, but if this is true I should make dwarf fighters and other races for thief and magic users. Anyways thanks in advance for the help.

This info seems to be out of place... I can tell for sure it is not part of the Apple or IBM versions of Wizardry 1 through 5.

Glad to get a reply so soon. Figured I might have to wait a month since last post was in April.

Does this info go to any other wizardry game like 6 or 7 or something then? Or perhaps when they made the game for nes or snes they made these changes?

I also noticed that if you scroll down to the class requirements for changing classes that it seems to be wrong for Samurai, Ninja, and Lord. Hard to make such big mistakes, wondering if that info is true for a different version of the game on another console or something?

Maybe this info works for the UWA version of the game? I was trying to figure out what version of the game this guy plays on his website, and it seems to be the Ultimate Wizardry Archives that has 1-7 or 8. Unfortunately, after reading all the bugs with leveling, I'm not going to try it. Sounds pretty cool they put all the games on 1 disk though.

That "Character Race Chart" there is a mix and match between different scenarios with flawed assumptions since what is represented is not valid for all scenarios.

I'm not saying that entire web site is wrong, I'm saying that this particular chart is misleading.

You can consult other Wizardry web sites and the user's guides for whichever Wizardry scenario you're playing for that particular info.

Note the the top of that web page is for Wiz 1-5 and the bottom part for Wiz 6-7 and 4(Famicom).

As for the UWA bugs, maybe you can play the Apple version of the game that doesn't have these bugs plus you get to play the game in 16 colours instead of 4. Downloads: ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/games/rpg/ and also look in Google for an Apple II emulator (such as AppleWin).

I haven't checked the class changing thing you mentioned... just double check against other sources...

yeah i see. Well I'm already playing the snes one with 1-3 on it. The only thing I don't like is, when you transfer characters, they drop down to lvl 1, even after beating the game. Was kind of hoping to keep their levels. Anyways I'm already on the second wizardry game. I would be interested in playing it if they had changed the version to include different resistances and specialties for weapons based on race. Also looks like it was easier stat wise to make different classes. That would have been nice. That's why I was curious.
