"Help!?"
Ahhh, I´ve been searching every known website for Wiz VI, and when I finally found a copy of the Ultimate Wiz series I go home, dust of my old computer... and wowww.. Bane!
So now I´ve got the game (soon 2 of them) but when I try to run playbane.bat nothing happens but a message "Graphics mode not configured" !

What shall I do? I only have one .exe file called "Wroot" but nothing happens when I try to run it.

So, what shall I do to configure the graphics mode?

Please help..

By the way, a fun way to succed in Bane is simlpy playing 6 ninjas.. I have actually finished the game that way... =)

But the real fun party is

Lord
Valkarie
Samurai
Ninja/thief/some one else
Priest
Mage

As you can see my fourth place is a bit confused... a third spellcaster is great, or a thief with his skills..

The priest and the mage should during the game change proffession many many times, the priest to mage and the mage to priest, THAT´s brilliant!

Come on! Someone?
Been searching this forum for answers.. found something about a patch and a shortcut to it, going to download it later (at work now) but, what does it help?

I´m getting graphics mode not configured when I try to run playbane.bat, yesterday I tried to run it with moslo and typed.
c:\bane\moslo playbane.bat
and then the computer just restarted..
when I tried to run wroot.exe with moslo nothing happens!

Soon (I hope) I will get Ultimate wiz arc. but, will I have the same problem with that?

I´m running on a slow P133, 32mb, win 98 se.

Help?!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-19-02 AT 06:41 PM (Pacific)

your syntax is wrong.
as it is, Moslo is slowing your system down to 4.17 Mhz, and trying to run playbane.bat
it should be:
c:\bane\moslo /xx bane.exe
replace XX with the percentage of slowdown desired.
and replace bane.exe with whatever the EXE file (not the playbane.bat file) for bane is (I don't know it's filename)
if you have a 500 Mhz system, and you use moslo /10, it will slow the computer down to 50 Mhz
it's recommended you slow your computer down to 30-90 Mhz, fast enough so you don't end up waiting forever for combat messages, and slow enough so you can read them.
to find out what % you need to use, divide the desired speed (50 is a good easy number), and divide that number by your CPU speed (e.g. 500 Mhz); 50/500 = .1 (multiply by 100 to get percentage) = 10%

You are only as brave as the challenges you take on

Okey I´ll ttry that...
but the I will write (I have a P133 mhz)
mosle /50 playbane.bat

I don´t have any exe file, just a playbane.bat, or wroot.exe.
What is the meaning with wroot.exe? What should it do?
When I try to run it nothing happends!

mosle /50 should in my case slow down my computer to (50% of 133mhz) 66.5 mhz?

Does this help?
I´ve got the message "Graphics mode not configured"
But I don´t seem to find a way to configure the graphics mode?!

Is there any more files that I should have in the directory? Like command.com, autoexec.bat ?

When I wrote
mosle playbane.bat
the computer just restarted...

Soon (I hope) I will get the UWA, will I have the same problem there?

Greetings
Daniel

So you can´t configure the graphics mode in UWA either?

That seems to be the big problem, since i get that message.

I'm not sure if it can solve the problem in this case, but you should make sure to install Wizardry 6 *exactly* at C:\BANE . There seems to be a predefined path in some configuration file that requires the presence of some other files at this location. I tried installing it on D:\BANE and it wouldn't run, albeit giving me another error - SYSTEM ERROR: Unable to load system fonts. Installing the same files at C:\BANE solved the problem. You can also start the game from anywhere else (e.g. D:\BANE) if the required files are in C:\BANE
I'm running Windows 98SE on a P200.

Actually you CAN play bane from D:\BANE.
You just need to run winstall.exe in that directory and
configure install path, graphic mode, mouse mode and
sound mode. Don't do FULL INSTALL just CONFIG ONLY.
I'm not sure if this .exe is in other versions of bane
but the one from Wiz Archives has it.

Everything is solved!
I bought an old Pentium 150 mhz and ultimate w a, and I had NO problems at all to install it.
So now I´m playing a group of;

Fighter
Valkarye
Samurai
Ninja
Priest
Mage

I considered a Bard at the beginning insted of the Ninja, but the Ninja feels like a better alround character. I also thougt of a third spellcaster, maybe a Psionic... But I have to little experience of them.

This group works well!
