"Wizardry 7 DOS version questions"
Hi there!
I've started new round of Crusade after some 15 years of rest, and have questions, which I didn’t found answers yet! I’m adventuring with one fairy ninja\lord and 5 dead bags for items. Just passed City of Sky.
1. Personal skills
1.1 Reflextion. I read somewhere here it gives you -1 AC and -1 more for every 25 points in skill. For my fiery ninja-monk-lord it’s not true. I don’t see any changes at all after 100 in this skill. What’s it for?
1.2 Power Strike. Although I got it long before I started checking closely, it didn’t seems to influence my damage amount. How should it work?
1.3 Snake Speed. I started to win initiative vs ghosts and ratkins but still can’t beat Blienmies even with 20 speed. He keeps running away before I start my first attack. Seems he’s still faster. What else this skill is good for?

2. Items
2.1 Is there any chance to get Rod of sprites before Dragon Mountain?
2.2 Where can I get infamous Black Gown of Death?
2.3 I tried selling items to different NPCs. It seems they buy with same discount at all categories. Like Paluke gives you 50% of the original price, and Argus 40%. It semms the best price gives King Ulgar. But Paluke is best from unmoving NPCs. Is there anyone better?
3. Character
3.1 I switched my fairy like million times between Ninja\Lord and got more than 1k hit points. But spell points raising above 999 only temporary, and than fall back to 999. Is it a bug or feature?
3.2 I’ve got 100 in all weapon and power strike skills and it seems hands to be the best choice. I deal like 30-40 with 4 double attacks at higher levels, and with most weapons it’s much less. For example even Rod of sprites deal 20-30, not to mention Sai, Ninjato and the rest. Only Cane of Corpus is better. Am I doing something wrong, or it’s really better to maximize hand skills for 1st row fighters?

1. "It;s sad, really "
This is the first post in months, and a really good one, with a lot of good topics/questions ... and it has been so long since I played either version of Wiz 7 (or even 8, since my Son misplaced CD #3 ... grrr) ... I can't even given one answer that I would be comfortable with, as at least a 75% chance of being correct.

My present to me this Xmas will be to play through Wiz 7 at least one more time.

If no one has answered by then, I will give it a try.

Thanks for your attention
For now I checked some of the questions with Mad God editor and that’s what I found.
1. Personal skills section is still unclear. But it seems Snake Speed increase initiative. I need to check it yet, because from the saves I’ve got it’s still unclear how exactly it works. Power Strike is less complicated, because I have save with 2 dwarfs samurai/ninja switchers, and one of them with power strike. Reflextion is still unclear to me.
2. I can get Rod with reloads in Dane tower’s one of final chests. There is also chance of getting it as random loot from killing demons, but best way to achieve it this way – kill Brother Tshober to have infinite supply of demons. Black Gown of Death can be found only in Gorrors or later, that’s sad, because I don’t see how it helps that far in game. Selling issue is still unanswered, but I found in one walkthrough an advice to sell excessive items in Sky City, which is real strange advice. I’ve got like 10% of price there, worst proposition in the game. May be it’s karma dependant or generates randomly at the start.
3. Maximum spell points of 999 seems to be feature, because after reaching previous maximum level I won’t get it increased above that level. And hands is definitely best weapon of choice for first line fighters.
So, updating my questions:
1. Can anyone tell me how personal skills works, especially Reflextion?
2. Selling items – what’s the best discount price you had in game?

I still peek in occasionally.

Hands and Feet -- Keep an eye on your Stamina. You'll lose a LOT more because of the sheer # of attacks. (You didn't think there wasn't an actual downside to a large number of attacks, did you? )

Rod of Sprites -- For long term investment, you don't need to kill any NPCs for this. In the Hall of the Past, there is a monster generator square at the intersection in front of the mana fountain there. It will pop an encounter every time you step on it. Options include all the various demons, ghosts, and even a dino (I forget if it was Rexx or Godzylli...I think Rexx). Drop rate IS low but it is there.

Selling Items -- After a point, money is pretty meaningless. But it's pretty much Palukes or bust until you get there.

Reflextion -- IIRC it is a defensive skill. I see a claim that it increases your armor class (which it does in 8), but honestly? It has never really done much for me. Of course, I've always put it on a monk or ninja, so it may be a case of being overshadowed by their incredibly low AC.

Yeh, it spends a lot of stamina, but 4 rounds of 2d8 attacks is just better than any non-Gorror weapons. Since there is no damage reduction monsters whom you need to deal all damage in one blow and you don't lose damage rate even in switching classes - hands and feet is my choice.

Reflextion added absolutly nothing to my Ninja AC, and even with editor I have no idea what is it or Eagle Eye for. But Power Strike I checked - it adds 12 points of damage to each attack.

Actually, the easiest way to get the Rod of Sprites is to import it from W6. It is purchasable from the final vendor in the game and imports for free. (If you went crazy and had a party of pure faeries, you could import every one of them into CODS with two Rods.)

Hands better than ALL other weapons?? What about The Avenger? Muramasa Blade? *Light Sword*? All of these are available in the end game, although the first two may require reloading Gorrors Chests. However, the first two are also available as imports from W6, so you can START CODS with them, provided that you are importing characters able to equip them. (They are constrained items.)

Since I try minimax munchkin style - importing is not my choice. So it's Dane Tower reload

Hands and feets better than any non-Gorror or higher weapons. 2d8 and 4 attacks is not much in comparisson with 2 rod of sprites, but what else?
