"Interesting data diskettes for Wizardry Gold"
Hi,

I've spotted an eBay auction that might have contained some interesting data for Wizardry Gold.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230421482374

In the description, the seller mentions a 'File Not Found Patch' diskette and a 'Enhancement Performance Patch' diskette. The auction also included two letters from Sirtech Customer Support and six printed pages entitled 'Wizardry Gold Documentation Update' which probably described the changes made to the game by one of the patches (or both).

Is this data well-known and preserved for posterity? Otherwise, I'd hate to see anything Wizardry-related fade into obscurity or completely go the way of the dodo. I've recently bought something from this seller so I should be able to get the contact of the person that now owns this, if there's anything valueable in those diskettes and documentation.

Otherwise, please excuse me for wasting your time

I have no idea what they are. Maybe Rick knows something about them.

No clue about the "file not found" thing, but the "performance patch" is probably just the Pentium thing (have that on my site).

I'm not sure what good it woudl do to contact the buyer ... unless we are starting a Sirtech/Wizardry museum and want them to donate to it

Well, like I said, these could be nothing of importance (i.e. well-known patches and fixes). But, for as long as there's a chance they could be something more than that, I think they're worth looking into.

I wasn't thinking of asking the buyer for any of the physical items in the auction. If I had a Sirtech / Wizardry museum, I most certainly would, though But websites like Snafaru's, for instance, are pretty much 'museums' (more like repositories) so, if there's anything interesting or unheard of in that auction, it would be nice to see it made publicly available and preserved.
