1. "This may not help much ...."
.. but maybe coupled with Mad God's editor, it will yield a real answer.

The Amulet of Asphixiate is found in 4 treasures, with varying percent chance to get it:

Treasure # - Chance to get
160 - 1/4
168 - 1/4
182 - 1/3
188 - 1/47
19 - 1/47

I got this from my old data, for Wiz7NPC .. alas it does not still contain the linkage between NPCs and the treasure # .. maybe Mad God's editor can help out there?

Ask, and ye shall receive:

>160 - 1/4
Silent Lyre Chest, Dane Tower

>168 - 1/4
Siren's Wail chest, in the Dragon Caves

>182 - 1/3
The mana stone / key of Gorrors chest on the first level of the isle.

>188 - 1/47
Everyone should recognize this treasure number: it's the Gorrors' chests!

>19 - 1/47
Kolidra, Yreguoth and Necromanis drop.

3. "Sweet!"
Glad I posted the half of the information I had ... I'll have to see if he has that info in a file somewhere, or he is picking it out of the Wizardry files ... it would be nice to fill in the gap in my stuff

4. "RE: Sweet!"
My understanding is that the Forge picks it right out of the game file, so that if you modified the file, the results in the Forge would also be different.

But then, what do I know about such things? I'm just glad we have it around, and I'll live with the mystery of how it works. I've not advanced beyond hex-editing, myself.
