"Monsters -> Items"
Anyone have a list or remember what monsters may/do drop which items anywhere in the game, especially the Temple of Ramm and Swampland. I have never found the Excalibur, but I remember finding the Glass Slippers.

Example, undead pharaohs in the Pyramid and Temple of Ramm will drop ankhs.

1. "Mainly Greater Demons and Pit Fiends.."
... are reputed to give the good items.

So in the swamp:

Shadows or Lich give nice stuff like spd/dex rings

Goblins/Gremlins give some "attack potions" which are nice to import in CDS cause the begining is tough.

The various elven archer give great bows and all the arrow types - Peacemaker anyone?

Dinosaurs are supposed to give good stuff too, but you encounter very few of them (I met 3 in all, didn't get anything). I'm not talking about the conjured "Horastmus" but from "Tiranausaurus" (or something).

In the temple:
The toughest of each type usually have nice goodies:

Samurais (Lord Daimyo) have Tora maedate (AC-2,Vit 1) and Mampo of Death (AC-3,KAR 3)

Ninjas (Gandfather) have medicine bag and midnight cloak (both suck).

Knights (don't remmber) have every piece of silver/plate armor and blade cuisinart (nothing really exeptional)

Psionics (guardian of crystal) give PK crystal which is reg 2,AC-4,mental90%,INT 1 but for psionic ONLY (I had a faery psionic just for this item, as it imports in CDS)

G.Demons and Pit Fiends can give anything but as the range of item they have is broad, the probability to get something real good is real small. I have received books of magic, rings (spd,dex,lynx,mystic,...), many standard weapons/armor and some goodies:

Glass Slippers -8 Female only, Mental 99%
Demons Tooth 3 3D4 4 Thief only
Saint Bastard 2 2D4 5 Fig/Val/Lor
Sword Of Hearts 2 1D7 4 Thief/Bard/Rang
Diamond Eyes 2 3D4 4 Fig/Pri/Val/Bish/Lord (great secondary weapon)
Faust Halberd 2 4D4 2 Fig/Val/Lor Paralyse,Critical,Lifesteal
Zatoichi Bo 4 3D6 6 Sam/Mnk Paralyze,Critical,KO,BlindingFlash(60)

When I asked about the same question here some time ago, I was told Demons even had Muramasa blades and other "Isle of the Dead" items. Maybe you can find this old thread.

Be ready to fight for a long time and be careful not to raise your level too much. If all your skills reach 100, you're stuck. (Happened to my monk).

2. "I forgot to mention..."
You can fight most of the swamp monster right at the beginning of the game, at a gate you can reach from the NW "castle underground" (from ground level, go down, door on the right, stairs on the right). Great place to pick up some goodies early on. But death is highly probable.

Also if the idea is to export to CDS, check the FAQ on this site, but know that for arrows, only the barbed ones transfer automatically.

PS oops, I just saw that all the + (plus) didn't appear in the previous post. They get deleted in the original message automatically when hitting preview!!! Dear admin, a suggestion?

Yes, I had noticed that if you preview, the "+" signs go away. They show up in the preview window, but are removed from your original window, where you create your post.

I had meant to ask the author of the board system about it, but forgot.

I'm currently playing BotCF and I have encountered 3 or 4 Tyrannosaurus in the Enchanted Forest area. Right below where you meet the Pixie Queen either rest or spin and you will get some major battles. T-Rex, Goblins and Pixies are what I mostly got. Not once did I receive an item from the T-Rex. Maybe I need to try harder, hehe.

Oh, my Valkyrie is now level 33 compared to my level 22 Ninja. Those few extra points of XP really do make a difference later in the game.

5. "RE: Monsters -> Items"
I have noticed one peculiarity regarding Greater Demons and Pit Fiends. You only encounter these guys in the second half of the Ramm Temple. However, you will only encounter one or the other depending on which gate you choose to open. I believe if you go right you get the Pit Fiends and left for the Greater Demons.

Those Rock Heads provide some decent goodies as well, specifically rings of speed and dexterity.
Other neat things I have found are Sacred Slippers and the Cape of Hi Zen. This last on is a Monk only item with lots of resistances. I am disappointed they did not include it in CoDS.

Other items I have been looking for are Excaliber and a Faerie Cap. I thought the Pixie Queen might have one of the latter, but no such luck. I did run across a couple of T-Rex, but they did not leave a thing. Suprisingly, I was able to critical the monster on the first round, something that never happens in CoDS.
