"Wiz 7 returnee"
I've pulled this out for one more run. My challenge to myself is 1)no class changes and 2) no power reloads (I realize I'll lose a fight or three over such a long game).

What party and strategy would you run to accomplish those two things?

My party (no class change) was:

Male Rawulf Lord - a lot of HP, good Armour/Weapons, Divine spells.

Male Dwarf Monk - KIA, Psionic spells, Nice AC

Female Elf Valkiry - a lot of HP, good Armour/Weapons, Divine spells.

Male Felpurr Samurai - KIA, Mage spells, decent Armour/Weapons, I like to have a samurai in the party

Male Hobbit Ranger - a lot of HP, decent Armour/Weapons, Alchemy spells, Thief & Locksmith. If you apply ranged weapons patch, he could be a killer, but I played without.

Female Faery Bishop - good mana regen, -2 natural AC, Divine & Mage Spells

I managed to kill all the gorrors around level 60. I killed them on expert difficulty level (two gorrors per fight). Only BEAST had killed my samurai once during the battle - this was the only casualty.

During the game I constantly changed weapons to develop as much allowed skills for each character as possible.
This was a real fun.

Build a party around a Bishop and a Bard if you don't ever plan on class changes. You will probably also have to have classes like Rogue in order to cut down on your XP level requirements. I don't remember if it is the correct game, but weren't fighters taking double damage from everything in Wiz 7? If so, don't even bother touching them.

Double Damage is a bug and it can be easily fixed.

How do you fix it? I have WizGold installed with no patch updates and I think I noticed this happening recently too.

5. "The Cosmic Forge"
You need to download MadGod's editor for Wizardry 6, 7 and 8, also known as the Cosmic Forge. The most recent version should be available here: http://www.angelfire.com/magic2/madgod/
While set up to edit Wiz 7 (or Gold, for that matter). One of the menu options will be to fix the fighter bug. Mind you, I believe the relevant game files are read-only, and for the Forge to work its magic, you will need to (temporarily) remove that protection from the relevant file(s). (It should tell you which file(s) when you go to save changes and you get an error that it cannot write to xxx.xxx.)
