"Using items with Keyboard input"
Greetings fellow Wizardry addicts!

I'm playing the original Wizardry 7 for the first time (after years of Gold, and yes, the music in COD is so much better) and I want to use the keyboard input under configuration (I hate using the mouse). However, I CAN'T USE ITEMS OR CAST SPELLS!!!!! Everytime I select the item button in a battle or on the map screen THE GAME DOESN'T LET ME HIGHLIGHT ANY ITEMS(OR SPELLS)! which is very bad because I have a bard and am a firm believer in using every instrument at least once, usually a dozen times in each battle (especially since I like to believe that Bless is cumulative). Is there some key combination I'm missing? By, the way, I'm running the game on DOS Box .65 (amazing program) and I installed the game off the Ultimate Wizardry Archives (why did Sir-Tech have to go out of business?) If anyone could help, I would be supremely grateful.

1. "Space Bar"
Have you tried using the space bar? Once you get to the spell or item table, hitting the space bar once will highlight the first item (spell name or item) on the list; each additional hit will move it down one more.

Note: the space bar can only be used to highlight items already appearing on the list. If, for example, you are trying to use an item, only three items appear on the list at a time, and the space bar will only scroll between them. If you want to use Item #4 in your inventory, you need to first use the arrow keys (down arrow, specifically) to move the view down to where item #4 will appear, then you can highlight and use it. (The same rule applies for spells, but more spells show up in the list, so this usually isn't a problem until you know a LOT of spells in the particular realm.)

2. "RE: Space Bar"
Thanks. Figures, Space Bar's just about the only key I didn't try. Murphy's Law or whatever. I am officially supremely grateful
