"At the beginning ..."
I'll skip the praises everyone does - yes, I was amazed as well fox DosBox's abilities... couple of years ago I actually assembeled an old 80486 with 128MB of RAM just to play this game!

Anyway, although I remember quite well how to play (built myself a nice party), my meelee hits are ALWAYS missed. Now, when I just begun I might have hit a couple of times, but for a week I hit nothing, not even the damn PHOOTS (I am in the dungeon near the city). My Dwarf-Figter, Felpurr-Ninja and Dracon-Ninja are all 5th level class (Ninja bear-handed, Dwarf has 18 strength), very decent in their stats, and yet - only spells hit the damn monsters!

How come? Should I state I am playing the old version, not GOLD...

I would appreciate any help; while we're at it, I would appreciate a little tip/spoiler:
I can't remember if I need to defeat so early in the game the king of T'rang, H'jenn-Ra... could you hint me on this one?

Thank you very much all of you!

Funny, I have a similar problem - not the weak characters, but the H'jenn-Ra that haunts me.

what, it's like I need to build up my characters up to level 11 or something like that before entering the city..??

...to the original post.

Anyway, there is a lot of "swing and a miss" in the beginning.

Stick with it.

my cousin uses the same comp. , as he dropped by - he thought it would be funny (!).

Anyway, I hope that you're right; but just to make sure - do you mean that 99.9% of the time I miss? It just doesn't make sense, considering the fact the I DID powerplay; I mean, I re-rolled the characters at creation until they were as good as possible...

You can roll until the cows come home and will still spend quite a bit of time slicing the air. I recall cursing those damn Phoots as they were the toughest critters in the beginner forest/dungeon. That is, of course, until the ambush.

I usually rely heavily on the magic user to get though the beginning areas. (1 to 3 HP damage at a shot)

You miss quite a bit in the beginning. Stick to weak enemies (and maybe use weak weapons) so you get lots of swings and practice. ;)
