"(Nearly) complete map - spoiler"
LAST EDITED ON Apr-16-06 AT 12:09 PM (Pacific)

Hello everyone!

After several tries over the past...ten years or so, I'm finally close to the end of the game. Currently I'm in the Hall of Gorrors. I couldn't reach so far without Ravashack's excellent walkthrough, and I sometimes even need Ackadia's guide.

Anyway, I've mapped Lost Guardia and everything underground (or above) that I've already explored. So that's all of Lost Guardia's topography. I only miss the Hall of Gorrors and Astral Dominae (I suppose that's the end where I have to fight the Dark Savanth).

Though I do this for my own fun, you might like to see it as well.

I can't post a link to a picture, so you'll have to go to my site and click on the link "Map Wizardry VII" in the left frame to see it.

You can download it using this link:
http://www.straland.com/download/wizardry7.zip

Courtesy goes to the makers of the editor: Costmic Forge, from where I've copied a lot of maps and combined them, and of which I used the icons for chests, statues, buttons, etc. I did provide them with backgrounds however, so that you can see what type of ground it's standing on. I'm quite a perfectionist.

Awesome map!

Remember that map tiles work both ways. For example, where "Sea of Sorrows North" meets "Sea of Sorrows West," there are teleporters on both sides to take you to the other. If you want complete mappage, you'll need to go back over every tile that you can teleport from, from A to B and then B to A.

Moreover, get the wrong answer on the crystal puzzle in the Hall of the Past (Isle of Crypts) your first time through it. It will take you to a small area surrounded by pits, and you can only get there through a wrong answer there.

Chris

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

XenXheng, I mostly use Cosmic Forge, the editor, to get the map. But I only check it after I've completed the place.

I haven't completed the Hall of the Past. What a distaster area!! Mapping is also quite useless if I don't get to show where you teleport to somehow. But that's later care. What I wanted to say is that when I've completed it, I'll check the editor to see if I missed something.

Speaking of which, is there any way to get past Barlone's Order of Law? I've done what he asked me to do. But I can enter and he says something like "We might ask a small favour later. We'll let you know." And then I'm outside again.

That's a tricky one, getting back to Barlone. He only lets you in if you bribed one of the Ratkin running around at the start of the game. They tend to die quickly, so once past New City, it's usually not possible to get back into Barlone's area. You can use the Cosmic Forge to get past it, I can advice you on how if you like. Other than that, you're stuck never getting to Barlone Topless.

Alternately (if you start a new game), if you don't pay your dues when the rats ask for it, Barlone' will attack you instead. That's how I got his treasure (sans the Displacer Cloak).

Dear Matrix,

I could not access the map, so instead I looked at your music. I see you like Ummmagumma too- very good!

Thank you

Hehe, thank you. I like progressive metal more.

But anyway, thanks for the remark. I have no idea what the cause of this is - I can't view it either, but everyone has the "chmod"-right to view it - but I've zipped the bitmap and placed it in my download-directory. You should be able to download the (better quality map) by this link:

Sweet work of art...
Almost wish I could print out a Glossy Poster size of it and frame it. Would look nice in my computer room. (Thats only because it's the only room in the house my wife will let me decorate, of course)

Congrates on finishing the best role playing game Ever created. Now jump to Wizardry 8, if you have yet to do so.

This is fantastic!

Any chance of someone doing a .doc with a 'key' to the map?

I realise most squares are self explanatory, and I would do one myself, but not sure what some squares' graphics mean...

I also realise map is purely a representation of the game generated map (and thus should remain sacred), but it would also be good to have locations of some things (e.g. the five flowers in the Witch mountains) documented somehow in relation to the map...

You're right, Shogun. Would be a lot of extra work though. Especially the map of the Hall of the Past is actually almost useless now as you don't know where all the teleports are and whereto they go.

A legend could indeed have been added. But to be honest I thought it would be clear what everything is.
