"King Ulgar's Speech"
Just an example of how great this game is for me. My 5 person party have been fighting left and right to give the Gorn king the message. I hated the Gorn at this point and imagined my party wanting to torch all Orkogre castle, but I found the king's speech genuinely moving, the plight of an old man leading a dying people. Kudos to Mr. Bradley and all others concerned - a crpg with pathos.

Hence the speech before reaching the castle by Capt B. There are a ton of 'rebel forces' and 'civil war' going on. You weren't fighting the King's men, you were fighting the Gorns who didn't want you picking a side. ;)

The Gorn do seem rather an exclusive bunch. Ulgar confessed to not likeing any of the other races except maybe the Munk. Same for the other NPC Gorns. I really do find them interesting but not my party, especially after the ranger got creemed by Murkatos guardian and now cannot be raised. My party are carrying around a corpse so the Gorn are not their favorites. 1 down - 4 more to go!

This actually prompts me to ask a question. That ranger of mine had been killed in the battle with the spirit guardian and subsequently raised with the amulet of life. The character seemed fine and participated well in the subsequent raven fight. The character seemed fine with no ill effects - like poison, but when the party rested, the ranger's hit points would sink like a stone. Rest a full 8 hrs, the ranger was dead. Raise the ranger and the same thing happens. Do not know what happened. The only anomolay was that the ranger was wearing a cursed cloak - which I can find no stats for - since the cloak had no name and one could not assay it. At any rate - the party now carries a cursed corpse around. Maybe my alchemist will give her the deadman's hair.

Thanks for reading. This is a great site. I really thought once I was the only person who liked this game.

These seem to be the only negeative regeneration items like a cloak, that I can find, that a ranger can wear (of 7 in the game). Both seem kind of obvious ... with "death" in the name

Wiz7Item (see my home page) you will get you a lot of answers about items ...

Thank you for the information. I do not know what to do for the ranger, but this is interesting for two reasons. One this was my first attempt to get through the game with less than 6 people - and I have lost one - seemingly permanently. Second - I really try to add roleplaying - so my characters may do things not entirely logical to winning - but just because of my perceptions of their personalities. This should be fun - how they rationalize this death. The ranger's name was Aguirre - my only regret as I did not have a Klaus Kinski picture for the portrait.
