"Maximum number of dropped items"
After finishing the game I wanted to do some hack'n'slash on monster generator in Hall of the Past to gain levels and prepare for combat with Beast of 1000 Eyes. And there's a problem. It seems that I dropped so many items that the game crashes after I drop another piece of loot. Did anyone experianced this? Is there a 'world maximum' or 'location maximum' for dropped gear? Or maybe it's some sort of bug?

There is a map segment limit of 118 (or 128 if I miscounted). Each piece of the map can hold 118 things. At that point, things start disappearing - non "you need this" items only.

I have also had stuff vanish after not playing a savegame for a long time. Did they add a timer or something ?

I never had it crash on an overload. Maybe you should collect up some of the stuff and sell it in New City ? Were you dropping more than one item at once ?

I found the drop limit by over-exploiting the Mystery Menus, an undocumented testing feature (YES IT IS, I'm right and my detractors are WRONG) that only works on version 1.0 and not for everyone. I think you hit shift uparrow, down, left or right arrow and a menu of (junk or useful) items pops up. Drop an unidentified item, then pick it up. Sell the stuff to a vendor and be amazed at the price they offer. Also try shift < or >, that menu can produce a light sword.

I think I reached a "world maximum". I tried dropping items in the sea outside Island od Crypts and it still crashes. And if I pick up an item from the ground and drop it again - it works fine.

>Maybe you should collect up some of the stuff and sell it in New City ?
Of course it would work, but it's nonsense. I have dropped several hundreds items in the game so bringing them to NC and selling would take eons

>Were you dropping more than one item at once ?
I used LEAVE option when finding loot from monster generator. I picked almost nothing from combats in the Hall od the Past - I didn't need those items.

Two ways to avoid it i found is immiediatly USING every item I find so it dissapears or hacking the game with madgod's editor so monsters drop no loot.

Did anyone report the same bug as me?

Don't know anything about crashing, but the limit is 255 items (a byte, actualy) for the whole world, not for each map.

Use all 'usable' items until they disappear, that's it.
