"First time player, some dumb questions!"
Hi all, it seems there is a nice community here. I just started Wiz 7 Gold (allways wanted to play it,never got a chance), and am trying hard to get into it despite guffy controls and terrible graphics. Anyways, here are some questions (I would read the manual, but I hate that .pdf format).

1.)I just found some potions/powders in the newbie dungeon. They seem to be unindetified do. Do I need a certian spell/scroll to indentify them? Or a shopkeeper meaby?

2.)In the dungeon I got the "You see a heap of rags in the corner" voice over. But I don't see them anywhere. Is that just for mood or can I loot these rags or something?

3.)Inventory confuses me. I assume 'essay' means to see the items property. Is this right?

Thanks in advance for any replays (don't laugh at my noobnes too much please).

1. As your skills go up, you will be able to do more, like identify items (lesser items at first, more afdvanced later). Check the manual for exactly what skill it is that controls identifying. The manual is full of stuff you need to know, so it would be a god idea to get over your PDF complex

I believe there is also an identify scroll/spell.

2. This message, like many others you will encounter, are an indication you should *search* the area.

3. Yes

I believe there is an install option to put everything on your hard drive. Before you reinstall, copy your savegames to a safe place. I think it preserves then on reinstall but I'm not sure.

I have the "Wizardry Archive". And during the instalation of Wiz Gold I was never asked for a type of install (I just recheked, the installer doesn't have instalation selection).

I've never played Wiz Gold (only the original Wiz7), but can't you manually copy the files from the CD to your harddisk? That worked very well my very old copy of Crusaders, which by default starts and loads from CD.

No, not without using Daemon Tools that I posted.
