I know this topic has been discussed to death, but still I am curious about the details of spellpoint regeneration. Here are the facts as best as I know them:
*Fighters and Thieves receive a minimal regneration rate of 1 for each element
*Secondary magic users receive a rate of 1 or 2, depending on the realm
*Primary magic users receive a rate of 2 or 3, depending on the realm
*Faeries receive a +1 bonus to all realms
*Lizardmen suffer a -1 penalty to all realms
Here is what I don't know:
*Your stats also play a role in sealing your recharge rate, but I don't know how exactly. Is it that you get a +1 bonus to all realms if you have a Piety of 16 or above? I heard that Vitality matters in Bane but not in Crusaders-- on the other hand, some people recommend a Piety of 18 and a Vitality of 15 to have the best recharge rate in Crusdaers. Has anyone confirmed (by character viewing or some other means) exactly which stats provide a bonus, how high those stats have to be, and how much of a bonus you receive? Perhaps you get a +1 bonus for having high Piety, but you can receive a +2 bonus if both your Vitality and Piety are very high?
*I am very curious about the realm regeneration rates for each of the 12 magic-using professions. For example, if a character recharges at a rate of 2 rather than 1, or 3 rather than 2, you can have them specialize or focus on learning spells in that realm first. Does anyone have a chart for Crusaders? I am especially interested in knowing the recharge rates for a Bishop. Also, someone once posted that for example, a Mage, a Samurai, and a Bard-- although all specializing in the same spellbook-- might have different specialty elements.
I would love to test out recharge rates myself (since I am currently playing the PSX version and cannot edit or view my characters) but it would take far too long to try out all the different possibilities (for race, stats, and professions) considering I would have to play with all the different outcomes until it got to the point where they had a high enough maximum spellpoint value for each element, and I could test it out by resting and checking how many points they regained.
My current party is:
1. an Elf Monk (created with 18 Piety, class-minimal Vitality)
2. a Gnome Ninja (created with 18 Piety, class-minimal Vitality)
3. an Elf Samurai (created with 18 Piety, class-minimal Vitality)
4. a Dwarf Valkyrie (created with 18 Piety, class-minimal Vitality)
5-6. two Faerie Bishops (created with 18 Piety, at least 12 Vitality each)
Obviously magic is very important to me, as well as spell recharge rate. During character creation, I waited for super-high rolls, and gave all the points I could to Piety. Everyone in my party is currently level 20, and even the four secondary magic users have tons of spellpoints thanks to the Piety, and the Monk and Bishops already have 100 in their spellbooks. My team has four great fighters, but now that they are advancing it is like they are all primary magic users. For example, my Samurai is like a level 18 Mage in terms of spellpoints and number of spells (of course if she were a Mage, she would have Nuclear Blast by now). It is is pity that primary magic users have nothing special to offer near the end of the game, considering that secondary magic users can use spells just as effectively as primary magic users given a few extra levels, while the primary magic users will always be sucky fighters, never advancing in their number of attacks or strikes. I would love to have a professional Mage (my favorite class) but they suck compared to Samurais and Bishops at high levels.
