"Need explanation please!!"
Hiho all!!

I just bought me W&W a few days ago and really was facinated about it!So I spend much time in developing my characters and finally was happy about my nice party. But just shortly after I encountered the world i had a problem with the further LVL-gaining.For example my warrior started with 16 HP and HARDLY(after several loadings)gets 13 new HP to LVL 2.Since then it is nearly impossible to get more than 1 or 2 HP the following LVLs.And this happens to all my party-members.
What is the problem about it??Is it a kind of bug???
PLS help!!

1. "Thats part of the game's rules, as I understand it"
Say you are a Warrior. And say Warriors get on average 5 Hit points per level. Your first level up, you got a whopping 16 points and are now way above average. So, on your next few level ups, since you will be above average, your chance to get more than a point or maybe two is slim (or maybe none).

That is how I heard it explained anyways.

The other thing that affects hit points is Fortitude - the higher it is the more hit points you should get (still constrained in the above parameters).

Fortitude: You do not get more hitpoints. I experienced a warrior with 41 HP at level 5 (i.e., almost following your rule 5 HP/level if we add the initial amount of HP) and FO 15. Result: 1 HP + 1 AP mostly.
@Lora: I was assured that this irritating behaviour of the game is completely normal. Well, accept it and concentrate to ability points. Take 1 HP + 2 AP if you see that the game is "balancing" your guys. Even during super-balancing, you should see a roll with 2 AP.

How it is and the final solution.
The game makes its own roll of Hit Points whenever you level up. For example, if you are level 5 warrior and you are going to get level 6, the game rolls a warrior and then rolls 4 times its hit points (to emulate level 5). Now, if the resulting hit points are below your current hit points then you get 1 HP during level up. That's how I understood explanations I had found. In the other words, only a WEAK character has some chance to get more than 1 HP. A medium strong character must reroll several times to see more than 1 HP. And when you have tried to get a good roll before then you have almost no chance to get more than 1 HP.
W&W is full of silly bugs. One of them affects the "Toughen" spell. "Toughen" is a level 4 vine spell that gives your character 10 HP temporarily. Really temporarily? When you cast Toughen on a character and then you enter a town, then the spell will be removed (as any other spell will do) but the 10 HP will NOT be removed. In the other words, the 10 HP become PERMANENT. This is posted on the "Bugs" forum at this site.
Therefore: level up and accept 1 HP and 2 AP. Go to the town gates and cast Toughen. Enter the town. This emulates a roll 11 HP + 2 AP. It works. I have tested it. Use the bug wisely. I recommend 1 Toughen/2 levels for warriors, 1 Toughen/3 levels for mages and 1 Toughen/level for a barbarian and a zenmaster.
Note: the patch fixes the Toughen bug.

Does the same algorithm hold true for AP points?

I have found that it is better to get more AP points than HP becuase of the Toughen spell. Of course I could have used this knowledge well before I started the game.
