Hi.

As you may know, the authors of Wizardry got their inspiration from crpgs played on the PLATO mainframe such as Oubliette.

Well, good news!

The Caves of Janxrathra is an Oubliette scenario released in 2018 by Brian René Morrissette. It is written in C++ and runs on Windows or WineBottler on a Mac.

The game is free and the link to get it is http://www.patternhawk.com/caves.html

Enjoy!

Lots of fun. I rolled up a party of four, descended into the cave, met a group of 3 centipedes ... and 2 died, one poisoned (died a few steps later) ... guess I should read the docs.

You really need 6 characters in this game. Unlike Wizardry where the experience is divided up, in this game having more party members won't make a difference there.

Reading the Basic Guide is well, quite useful. You can also shell a few buck for the Tactical Guide which is also very useful.

Don't be afraid to put up two Ogre Fighters up front at the beginning, they will be your meat shields, consider them as expendable characters that you will replace eventually, it doesn't matter if they die a lot in the beginning, the idea is to get 2 or 3 "main" characters going first.
