"Stupid Newbie Questions"

Posted by MisterMoo on Oct-12-01 at 05:36 AM
So I finally broke down and bought a copy on eBay...

How do I keep my horse? I was on him when I entered town. When I went back out he was gone. Sob.

Weirdness while equipping stuff. Sometimes when I take a shield or sword (stuff that the character IS allowed to use), when I drop it in the right spot on the paper doll, the outline of that space turns red. WTF?

Thanks all.

I didn't have that a problem with the weapons.
Could it be maybe that you're wearing a two-handed weapon and can't equip a shield because of that?

No, it lets me put the weapon in the slot, but then the border turns red. I haven't played enough to know if it's affecting the characters offense or defense. Waaaa.

Now I've got it, I think.
Could it be that the weapon is damaged?
The red might indicate, that it has a chance of breaking.
There is a percentage rating for that. Repair it and things should be okay again.
You can repair at the armory or via skill.

Been playing through this game going on my fourth time through...so I will try and answer you.

The red around the weapon or clothing means that it needs to be repaired...not that it is close to breaking, but when you view it...it should have a percentage and that will tell you how much rapair is needed. You can fix at the Armory, but I would get one of my characters up in the "forge" skill otherwise...it will cost you big time to fix things.

The horse won't come into the town, but should be right outside whichever gate you rode on it too. If you came on the Nymph Lake side, then it will be there and the same goes for the Cemetary side. *Hint: you can take the horse most places, including the water...*

Let me know if there is any other problems and I will do my best.

Are you sure dear Lady, that this doesn't mean a chance of breaking? Otherwise, why should you repair your weapons, when the red doesn't mean anything serious?

i'm on my 2nd or 3rd time through and as much as I like to swing the sword, have never had a weapon to break. Now where's that wood. I guess they become less effective with wear without repair. Have fun!!!!

Pretty sure...although, I haven't gone to where the item needs 100% repair yet. Once my mage and priest learned how to bless items...repairing them became obsolete.

I have used a weapon until it was 50% in need of repair and it said it for quite some time. I don't believe that it will get lower than that. But now that you have brought it up...I will equip a lower budget sword than Kerah's sword and attemp to "break" it.

Thank you so much, your highness.
I don't have it installed anymore, but I'd be kind of interested what difference it makes, whether you repair a weapon or not. When the slot turned red, I was always afraif that my sweet little goodies would break. Which is also why I learned how to enchant them, so they would never have to be repaired again.

I have enchanted them all to 100% and have added up to +4 to hit...so nothing needs to be repaired anymore. I had to do that, because I was spending so much time repairing them and it was getting expensive.

Will test it out today and see what can be done...after all, my dwarf has a 10 in forge and I haven't run into anything she cannot repair.

I knew the fair Adrexia would come through for me. 'Twas indeed damage that caused the border to redden. Anything over 10% damage... just another little tiny thing about this game that irks... red means BAD, not "oops, you have a tiny nick in your sword..."

Anyway, I'm having fun with the general feel of Bradley while waiting for the BIG announcement. Thanks all.

Ahhh...dear Prince...I am honored by your presence. I prolly should change my name to QoW&W, since I play it more than anything else I own.

Let me know if there is anything else you need to know...I just finished the Serpent Temple last night and even I found a extra place that I had not been able to get into.

Onto the Mantraps I go.

...woulds't that I could fall into your mantrap!

But of the game itself...have most of the bug been eliminated?

I was going to tell you that I didn't find it too buggy, but then I was about to beat up the Dark familiar at Shurigeon Castle, when I noticed that I no longer carried the key and had to restart all over again.

It really isn't too buggy for me...and no I never bothered to get the patch...and this is my fourth time through.

My mantraps...*innocent look* why whatever are you talking about sweet princey??

*wicked giggles*

Well, my sword broke at 50 percent...but I wasn't told it broke...it just sort of disappeared. The picture showed the sword still there.

Now you know why I enchant all my weapons.

I've chased up 3 of the monkey figurines, and I can't find the fourth one. I've been to ALL of the treasure chests... and still only have 3 which makes me assume I've missed the damn run-away monkey somehow.... I probably let him run straight past me... anyway is there anywhere the little mongrel likes to hide... or am I going to have to... *sobs*... start the game all over again?!

Have you been to the 6-doors area? Because he usually runs around that area. Beware...cus that little monkey runs fast. My advice...walk around the temple and do the "Spirit Eye" spell as well as working on one of your players to actually have the scouting skill.

Don't restart...I have played the game 5 times through and that little monkey is a real pain to find...but you will find him. Let me know if you need anymore help...I seem to be one of the experts on this game.

Since my tiny sigs were causing bandwidth problems...they have been removed from here and my site...

I've had a lot of luck with that monkey - there was a little bug in the game and it got stuck in one of these 6 doors. A nice suprise.

But I found Xydusa EXTREMELY hard to defeat. I visited the other side of Ishad N'Ha and killed the Amazoni Mantraps before I defeated her!

And I've had a nice suprise when I was trying to kill Haleabus without finishing the Unholy Ritual. I was a bit shocked when I saw that he was blocking ALL of my attacks, and was affected by no spell.
