Ah, they are indeed back.
On a temporary basis, I was solving the problem by logging out. For reasons that escape a Luddite like myself, the website was happy to give up these posts to an unidentified stranger.

I always assumed there was a corrupted file, and everyone would have the same experience .... and the rebuild takes care of it.I guess that is only 2/3 correct
