"Have we met in another life, Mr. Barlone?"

Phoonzang bless ye valiant slime-slayers,

does any of you know what happens to those NPCs in Wiz8 that might have had an "accident" in Wiz7 if you import your old wiz7 party? I'm speakting of guys and gals like Don Barlone, Rodan Lewarx or Jan-Ette. Are there major differences questwise with those people being dead? Do those folks remember your imported party if they survived those hard times on Guardia? If so, I'd probably awake my Wiz7 party from an indeed very long sleep...

Thank you and beware of the plants,
Fygar the Inflatable Dragon (Tm)

They remember you in a favorable light. They will mention seeing you before but harbor no ill will if you killed them.

Look around this site for the item transfer rules. The bishop and alchemist armor has been upgraded to "good leathers". If you have save games from just before the ending scenario, dump the high grade armor and dress up in good leathers. Spear+2 transfers well, so does Elven Bow. Stock up on medium-grade arrows and rocks divided among several team members. Potions transfer in groups of five. Most rings and amulets transfer.

Actually, we prepared a detailed set of import rules that Lana put up on her website:
http://www.flamestryke.com/wizardry8/flamestrykes_w8.html
Look under "Import Index" on the left side of the screen.
(I believe we covered everything except Ymmu's Paw, which does import and I somehow overlooked. I keep meaning to test whether it imports as a category 1, 2, or 3 item.)

Hey, those answers came amazingly quick -- thank you very much!

Nice to hear that the good, the bad and the beautiful (Rodan, Don and Jan-Ette) are not resentful if you had some *ahem* dissent that ended lethal for one side.

When beginning Wiz8, I had seen that you can import some stuff, but I'd probably skip that: Where is the fun in collecting minor items when you already have some awesome rods in your inventory? And the rather strange race decicions I made im Wiz7 (where they didn't really matter) can be solved by dismissing some of those seniors and replacing them by young folks.

Anyways, thank you both very much for your information, and don't let ye get swallowed!

Barlone' has an unused piece of dialogue that says something along the lines of, "You think you're funny do ya? Killing the leader of the Rattkin? You should know it's not that easy to take down a Razuka."

If you're interested in hearing it, download the SLF viewer from my site:

http://www.geocities.com/grieversnr/index.htm

Open the sound.slf file in your Wiz 8 directory, then go to NPCs, then Barlone, and play file #121.

"You know, Calzone told me who he thought it was, and I didn't believe him. Heh. Well, look at you now. Thought you were pretty funny on Guardia, didn't you? Knocking off the Boss! For Razuka, pal, death is but a temporary annoyance! Maybe you can make it up to me, cheap shot..."
He says that in the case if fact "FACT_BARLONE_WAS_DEAD" is accomplished. But unfortunately, I don't know when this fact becomes accomplished and why.
Though Barlone does not attack your party in this case anyway.

Barlone can be attacked and killed in Wiz 7.

Just do his quest with the T'Rang, then pay a visit AFTER Ratsputin tries to collect dues and you refuse (and he attacks). At least, that's how I got him hostile.

Getting hit by infinite Death stars really really stinks, and the (Dong-fu?) hurts too.

Heh, Death Star is not his nastiest weapon. He also shoots BOWEL RAKER for 4d4+16 with KIA 15%...

Though he is not so tough, because he is just 15th level monster.

He also calls Razukas that fight just like he does, which in turn calls Rattkin Leaders. Great company, I used to like battles with rattkins - they are great!
