"Did you miss me??"

I have been trying to get back into the forum for three days straight, without success. Me and Llevram have been chatting back and forth trying to get me back in here.

Yesterday, I called my ISP to see why I could not get in. It looked as if me and Llevram's ISPs were going to start fighting. They said this and his said that and I felt awful, because let's face it...I am addicted to Wizardry and I missed you all.

Well, I kept getting the forum was still down and told Rick that I was never going to get in. I was close to tears after my last email to Rick and he told me to hold on. (Hey...I am a woman...I get emotional)

Well this morning, I was still locked out...went to work and came home and thought it won't work. It will probably be weeks before I can get back to posting again. Besides I had a really bad day at work!! And to my surprise, I made it back in.

So...pardon me while I jump for joy. Well, not quite...still can't jump yet, because the leg is very stiff. Well...Aa cyber yell then.

YIPPEE YIPPEE YIPPEE YIPPEE!!!

So, I ask...Did you all miss me?? By the way, did Doc make it back in as well?

Actually, I talked to my ISP one more time (they called me - imagine that Tech support initiating a dialog ) and got further educated. Here is the low down (as far as I understand it):

I changed web hosts, so my IP address changed (not my domain name).
The Internic, which is THE authority for IP addresses, made their change that reflected my domain was now at a new IP address.
Other Web Hosts/ISPs get that change at various times - of their own choosing. Main hubs usually once a day, others weekly if at all.
They can choose the "if at all", because every address has a "time out" or expiration date. Once that goes stale, it is queried for a fresh copy. (p.s. Dear Lady - This is probably what your ISP meant by it is "automatically updated").

So, in my own experiences, at work and at home, asking my ISP to update their name servers (the IP address lists) caused my browser to find my new site right away. At work this change took place literally in seconds - I checked it and hit the old site, we bounced the firewall, and as soon as it came back up, voila, I was pointed to the new site. Our poor Lady was obviously not so lucky

Again, sorry for your troubles, though there was little I could do (other than offer support).

I know and I appreciate all that you tried to do.

By the way, now my mother can get the site. I doubt if she will post though. LOL She was just trying to help me out.
