Many of these reasons are very legitimate once even though others of are just features that true RPG fans love.
For instance:
8. Lazy NPCs (yeah in most games NPC are narrow minded)
7. Quests (some quests are really stupid)But it seems there is some hope ;)
Piranha Bytes suppose to release Gothic this fall. Gothic should feature the following:
- "real" NPC life cycle including daily activities and nightly sleep
- change of NPC attitudes depending on PC actions outfeat and so on
- NPC-NPC interactions a-la W7 (you fight A then B helps you and C helps A)
- NPC memory
