"Activisions Wizards and Warriors web page"

Posted by Nebari -ur on Apr-02-00 at 08:59 PM
Activision appears to have just opened a web page for W&W from DW Bradley. Mentions right at the start that he was the designer of Wiz 5, 6, & 7. Pretty basic right now.

I'll likely be indexing webpages for this game too. I've set up a temp location for the pages - while I'm waiting for a new folder to be set up:

"New interview w/D.W. Bradley"

Here is the link:

Here is a snipet:

IGNPC: What are some of the features that you're going to include in W&W that really excite you personally?

DWB: The Guilds and quests for character delopment, true multi-class development, all the unique skills, traits, and spells that the PC characters can acquire, the ability to enchant and customize inventory items, adaptive time-phasing which allows the player to control an entire party of characters at his or her own pace like turn-based for all decision making while simultaneously preserving the sense of real-time play action, the huge number of individual 3D monsters and NPCs, and above all the diverse spectrum of story situations and the unique strategies that every player will have to determine for themselves based upon how they've chosen to develop their PC characters.

"Sex!"

You mean you went out of your way to post a snippet from the interview, and you didn't choose the one about how playing Wizards and Warriors is like having sex? God, us crpgers really are getting old...

"Nope, not even naked ladies :)"

I was really enthused when I saw the caption to the interview, something like "Bradley even talks about naked ladies". I thought this might have been an anwser to the quasi-question I posted on the HP board, reagarding the limited nudity shown in some of the screen shots.

I guess I was dissappointed when it turned out to be the reference you were talking about. That and I thought the snippet I posted was more interesting ... egad! I am getting old

Nothing I saw was really new (except maybe one or two of the screen shots) RPG Planet

There's a fuller game description and more screenshots:

Although the elephant and mouse races look a little over the top for me (am I the only one who still builds a party of 6 humans - or at least humanoids?) it definately looks to be a project which illustrates the benefits of not going bankrupt! And maybe its just be but the graphics look sweet too.

No, Sir, I also prefer to choose humanoid charakters (though I must admit that I sometimes use a Felpurr or Dracon).
BTW, did somebody try M&M8? I'm not sure if I should buy it since the newer M&M (5-7) were disappointing.

"Same as 7 but easier."

It's just like playing 7 but a lot easier. The wall textures are a bit better but you still have the lame 2D sprites attacking you. Also, since you can get a dragon almost from the start of the game, it really becomes pointless to fight. Come on! Who can stand and fight a dragon? You're dragon is not super powerful but give it a few levels and you'll be flying around everywhere avoiding lame fights and using it's fire breath.

Wait for 9. They are making it all 3D so the graphics should be better. Not sure about the story or the difficulty.

Thanx. I read that dragon thing in a preview. My problem now is that I am a deranged collector of crpgs (I own almost one hundred). AND I feel like playing a new one. Just finished Torment (my doctor says the inflammation of the wrists will be gone soon; yes, it's a joke but clicking all day long is enervating).
Is there any alternative out there? They are stopping US imports here in Germany very often; most dealer get or order at best one delivery, that's it. Don't know why, maybe globalization scares them or my compatriots are as narrow-minded as I always thought (standard answer: no, we don't sell US versions, only the German).

O tempora, o mores.

I guess I am on the other side of that fence. I like playing crpg's as anything but human. I enjoy "being" somebody's idea of an elf or a mook (whatever that may be). For playing games as a human I play strategy games like Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. There the fun is dealing with the charming personality of some of the characters or being some of those very nasty people..imagine being the T'rang leader! joan

In the huge display for the new game by D.W. Bradley, Wizards and Warriors, the font used for his name is the same size as his credits:

Wizardry V, VI, AND VII
