How about nothing for a home page - that way your browser loads up much faster and then you can go anywhere you want from there.

To do this, go to tools/options in IE and where it asks you to put something for your homepage type in "about:blank" (w/o the quotes of course).

Does it matter how long it takes to load your browser?? If you put the blank page in, then you still have to type an addy and wait for that page to open. Why not have it at a page that you go to frequently.

I use my own homepage...or google...depending on my mood. We used to use www.nascar.com, but when they changed to the AOL mode, it use to freeze the browser...so we went to google.

How about this for insanity. I use the lobby of these boards as my home page. What am I thinking?

Sometimes it does matter how long your browser loads. The computer I use at work for my company email, etc. is an older slower machine and yet I have to run win2k on it for security reasons. So, the browser takes a long time to load on it - and since I go to so many different internal web sites - none more than any other - I find it much easier and quicker for me to get where I need to be going at the moment to have nothing as my homepage.

My machine at home is a completely different story. It's much faster and better - so I actually do use a webpage as my homepage. I use google since I use it a quite often.

I thought that he wanted a site hosting service too...but everyone was giving him new start-up pages, that I jumped on board.

As for a site to use...there is always Homestead. Homestead gives about 8megs of space for free, but you cannot do alot of stuff with them without paying for their full service pack.

You can always see if your ISP will give you some space...most of them do, as part of your service. They are free, but limited to 10megs or less. They have space that you can purchase as well, but it is alot of money I have found.

Or if you don't mind paying a little more, there are a few good sites. I use DrakNet myself. They are Pagan operated, but you don't have to be Pagan to get a site. I have 150megs of space for about 100 dollars a year or 10 dollars a month. They have a smaller account...which gives 100 megs for about 5 dollars a month or about 50 a year.

I like DrakNet, but I am pretty biased. Plus they were the least expensive for me...and I wanted the ability to do as I wished, without my sigs being blocked and some other things.

Lobby of this board. i always come here first anyway

Thank you all for your input
