Now I'm into programming!!! As I had taken this course(Network Engineering) we have been given some overview about programmning. I liked this thing and now, inspired by the role playing games I had played(ultima series, wizardry 6, might and magic series), I am planning to make a game. I will be using Visual Basic 6 Enterprise Edition. I like this more than the recent release of Microsoft's Visual C# because C++ makes me dizzy everytime(C# is like Visual Basic 6 which has GUI interface but C++ codes). I have basic knowlewdge in VB6 (especially in database programming) but still have no idea where to start in the game. I also know Macromedia Flash and am planning to use them in animation and cutscenes. Now here are my game concept:
Character I will only use a single character, a diablo style but a Wizardry 6 combat interface.
Stats Everything that is common to an rpg game.
Combat Wizardry Style, as I had said.
Player View Bird's eye view.(Ever played the Exile series by Spiderweb Software?)
Title no idea
Character Advancement Here it gets tough. As for level one, he is a puny little human being with nothing more to do than bash opponents with a club. But as the level raises, it brings up its personality. My plan is to build the character into an Angel or Devil or something like that but they have different skills like the spells they use. Also, the storiline would affect the character's personality. Also, there is the mercy option which if he had beaten uphis opponent, he had the chance to kill it or set it free. This is how would make the character choose the personality he is up to.
I hope this game would be a hit just like Counterstrike(he he!).
LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-01 AT 08:26 PM (Pacific)I'm not a graphic artist yet so I might consider that it's a top down view.
Oh, also, this project will be a one man army, zero budget and freeware just for all of you so don't expect too much in the game. My aim here is to increase my programming skills and not to capitalize on it.
(and hard to come up with for programmer types, usually)It depends a lot on the type of game and interface. If you take Wiz 7 adn Wiz 8, all the good things they had and expand on that you are headed in the right direction
Seriously, that should be something special you come up with. I have had similar thoughts (about writing a game) and have a basic premise, but the filler is greatly lacking.
