"What?"

I'm having trouble getting this to read the saves. First, I tried to use c:\Bane\save. The game asked me to put the save disk into drive c:. Did the same for c:\bane. So I switch to A:, and it saved fine, but when I went to reload it, it couldn't find the save. What directory do you use for saving in Bane? I suppose I could try to run an Ironman game, not saving, and never shutting off DOS box.

IIRC, you have to type in c:.

Explanation: When you use DOSBox, the folder that DOSBox is started in is considered as c: (unless you mount a different drive / folder in DOSBox). So if you start DOSBox in the Wiz6 - folder and type c:\Bane\save as saving-location, the program actually searches for c:\games\bane(or wherever Bane sits)\bane\save, which usually can't be found...

Ok, thanks.

Didn't work. It asks you to put a disk into Drive C. Also, I use DFend, so it mounts the entire C drive, instead of just the folder in question. I changed it to just mount the bane directory, but that failed to work as well. I'll try to use A drive again, My Computer locked up when I tried to copy my save, so it may be the disk is bad.

That's strange. In these threads DOSBox is explained (including a topic opened by me, which had the same question - about Wiz7).

Maybe you should use DOSBox instead of DFend (which I haven't heard of yet).

Good luck!

DFend is a front end for DB. It allows you to set profiles for each game, so that you don't have to re set everything when you change games (which is a problem if you have 50 or so games sitting there). It also lets you just scroll down a list and load them up quickly, rather than having to remount the dir every time. I still can't get the save to work on the hard disk, but it works on the A drive now. Thanks for your help.

Oh, I think that I have that tool somewhere on my harddisk as well... But I usually start old games by copying DOSBox + config-files into the game-folder and drag the game-exe onto the DOSBox - file. The Exe is then automatically launched via DOSBox so there's no need for mounting drives etc.
