"cods on windows vista?"

I just purchaced cosd on cdrom at my library for 50 cents. I vaguely remember playing it when i was a child. I would like to play it again but, i have no idea where to begin. I tried using the command prompt and followed the directions in the cd case, (all original by the way) which are, (not verbatim) insert cd, type d: or what evr your drive letter is, type install d, press , then type cd\w7 , then play . i followed all of this then a second command prompt pops up with divide over flow. I know this mean something tried to divide by zero and i need an update or patch, but, i tried about 30 different patches. i can access the configuration screen and thats about it. im trying to avoid downloading dos box because i cant figure the instructions out to install it and fix all the bugs. if any one can help me it would recognize the quality, significance, or magnitude of your favor. thank you

I doubt they built in DOS compatibility into Vista, so I think DOS BOX is probably your best bet. There is decent link on how to in the announcements (in the Lobby).

If you like to get the game on your hard drive and thus be able to save games, (at least easier) then you can do the following: (this works in any OS that runs DosBox)

1. Copy entire DSAVANT directory to any location on your computer. (C, D, E, etc.)

2. Open DosBox and mount the root of the drive you copied the DSAVANT directory (and contents) too. So if you copied it to your c drive with teh following path c:\dsavant then you would just type mount c c:\ This is important as the game defaults itself to a c:\dsavant directory for a lot of things, mainly with setup related issues.

3. Next type c:

4. Then cd dsavant

5. Then type vinstall This is the actual installation file which was meant to instal the game from a disk drive. All we want to do is really just set up sound. So using your arrow keys go to the sound setting. If you noticed when you opened DosBox it already established a sound blaster setting for you. So you can set it to the following: Sound Blaster, PC Speaker, or none.

6. Then use the arrow keys to go to the Config only option. Hit enter, and it will tell you that it has successfully done so. From this point on it should exit the installer, and leave you in the dsavant directory. From here you can type either wiz or wizarary. I think it's the later, but I renamed mine to make it shorter to type. (haha) From here on it should load and you shoudl hear music.

Hope this helps.
