"Wiz 7 and Dosbox"

First off I'd like to say hello again to everyone, been a long while since I last posted a question here.

I recently decided to start playing CODS again, and was thinking about playing Gold until I read about the problems with diplomacy. I have CODS and it works fine on dosbox, but after almost every sound effect there is a small bit of annoying static that occurs.

Therefore, I was curious at what cycles everyone has their dosbox set to while playing the game, and if that might make a difference. I have tried the game under dosbox .63 and .70 at around 10000 cycles and the game runs fine, but still the sound problems. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Well, personally, I play w/o sound at all as well as w/o dosbox. Suits me well, though I would like to play with the sound...

There are a number of threads on this subject ... if you search for them. I think this was the definitive resource:

Thank you for your help, but I actually spent a while emailing back and forth with him about a year or two ago and was unable to find a solution for the static.

Still, maybe the problem lies with Dosbox itself and not the game. In any event, I'll have to look into their forums sometime and see if the makers of dosbox might have some idea.

Thank you again though. Even if I can't find a way to fix it I'll still enjoy playing through the game as it has been a while since I last played it.

I've had the same problem myself with the static in Dosbox, but really only for CODS. Sometimes it even cuts out completely, and then ten seconds later all the sound comes flooding out at once. I believe this is a CODS-specific problem, one I have yet to find a solution for myself. I just run it without sound.
