"Stuck at the start of Bane"

Hi,

I've recently started playing Bane, after finally finishing a game of CODS. Anyway I've just fininished the first level, the basement and the towers and now I'm stuck!! I've read a number of walkthroughs, but they aren't very clear. I don't seem to have the right keys to open any of the gates on level 2. Where do I find these. I've got Iron, Copper and a Silver key. I've also got the Key of Ramm, however in the walkthrough they mention the key of Spade and Chrome keys, neither of which I've managed to find, although I feel I've been quite persistent in checking out everything, but don't know what to do next. Any advice would be much apreciated!!

Okay have you gone up stairs yet? the silver key opens the gate in the captian's den, be prepared for a fight. you will get the spade keys on the second floor. if by queqerg(sp?) find the stairway between the fountians, go up and then around to the other side of the castle and you'll see stairs up to the 2nd floor. When you come out of the stairway turn right walk past the archway to the belfry and around the corner, there you will see another archway walk in to it and down the hall through the door and search all corners of the room in one you will find two keys of spades. the chrome keys are found in one of the spires that uses a spade key.

by the way most of the gates in the castle dont have keys to open them

hope that helps

Thanks for the advice, but call me plain stupid, but I can't seem to find this "archway to the belfry".
Just to clear this, there are 6 stair gowing up. 4 for the towers and two close to the fountain on the first level, should I use one near the fountain?

There is a seventh set of stairs going up to the residence of king and queen. The belfry is in this direction as well. The
location is between the NW and SW towers, I believe.

Ah, you mean the one with the locked gate in front of it, which I unfortunately don't know how to open!?

OKAY here we go
on the main floor in front of the gate that you started from
1) turn left move till you hit a wall.
2) turn right move till a dorr is on your imedate left
3) turn left and go through the door
4) turn right move till on your imedate right there is a stairwell.
5) turn right and go up stairwell
6) you are now upstairs in king and Queen land
7) turn right
8) move twice forward
9) turn right again
10) move forward twice
11) turn left
12) move forward through the door
13) search all corners of the room
14) now you have the keys of spades.
15) go to the spire on the left of the fountian on the main floor where the open me first chest was and climb the stairs till you get to the door with the large balck spade. Use keys of spades. fight. win. open chest. get chrome keys. go back to king and queen land and open their rooms and explore more of castle.

Hope that HELPS.

There is only three gates on that level that can be opened.
And one (in eastern spire) is long after you will make your
way out of the castle.
The other two are in the king's rooms. Do you have key of ramm?

Your problem happened to me also. Unfortunately, it took months 'till I discovered this forum. What did I do on those frustrating months? Simple. I end up making my characters become level 50 world beaters. What? You think i'm insane that I just battled out rats and bats in the Bellfry till i get level 50? I didn't used any character editors either. So what did I do? I went to this double gate(once the other gate was closed) and went upstairs and just move till i encountered Wraiths. Knights of Death, Haunts, Chunins, Samurais and many more. The other gate was opened only by the dungeon key and this gate is the only way to the castle if you fell from the altar.
