"Wiz8 Difficulty, Defend, Berserk, Protect Explained"

Hi there,

I've been trying to get a solo party to work successfully with some frustration when I realized that there were some weird discrepancies:

1.) Difficulty?

What do the different settings actually change? I knew they incorporated monster spawning and some static item placement, but I didn't realize until recently that they also affected things like % chance to hit (maybe base stat calculations?)

If someone could very specifically explain this (or direct to me a previous post that does) I'd appreciate it.

2.) Defend, Berserk, Protect

Similarly could someone explain what these options do (quantify). Does defend increase your AC by some amount? What is protect's percent chance? What about berserk?

Thanks!

I think, Defend gives your character +2 on AC. I'll check it tomorrow. Or you can check for yourself: In your next battle, let a character defend and right after that, right click on him. In the inventory screen, you can find a complete list of all modifiers on his armor class, spells conditions...and defensive actions. If you haven't found this list already, it's hard to explain. Just look at pages 30/31 in the manual.

EDIT: Oh, just read your thread below, then you can't check it out.

Berserk (Form Monastery-Arnika) is about a 30% chance hit. Protect is always about 70-80%. And harder difficulty does lower the percentage.
