What version of Wiz8 do you have installed? (If it doesn't show "v1.2.4" in the top right corner of the main menu then you haven't got the latest patch installed).

Do you get the same problem if you create a new Wiz8 team (instead of importing)? If you haven't tested this, use the SAMPLE save game that is already provided.

Visit http://wiz8.web1000.com/ (US) or http://www.foerster.cc/wolfie for a spreadsheet that allows you to enter in your spellcaster's stats, and it will tell you what spells the character can learn, or for spells that they are not yet able to learn, it will tell you how many points they need, or why your character can't learn the spell.

Wasn't suggesting adding or changing your current party (completely understand what you're saying there), I'm suggesting trying with a NEW party of non-imported characters, doing the same actions (key in door etc that you mentioned) for TEST PURPOSES, ie, wanted to determine if the crash occurs only with your imported characters, or all (in this way, could determine if it's a game problem, or character import problem).

Which item(s) are associated with the failure?
Some things need to be unequipped and reequipped to work in W-8, and some things don't work at all. (like, you can come to Dominus with a Bec de Corbin in your left hand, but it's not usable there)

"Missing Files, prolly"
Posted by otter (Guest) on May-08-05 at 08:29 AM
I'd suggest un- and re-installing the game, sounds like it's not finding the files.
Maybe a little less drastic, if you can find and unzip the "levels" folder and replace the one in the current game folder. Or maybe it's even just the sounds it can't find...
You can save all your import files somewhere else first, if you have to reinstall the whole thing; there's a seperate folder for that in the Saves folder--i've put that on the desktop while reinstalling.

Your game should work regardless of patching.

Oh, i just thought of another thing: you might not have all the DLL's you need to run the game, or your Sound/Video drivers aren't keeping up with it...check in the set-up routine, after Autoselect it should allow you to fiddle with it.

I'll try, thanks but sounds and graphic seems to be normal...
Another thing in my party wasn't dead member and before {in Wiz 7} i import them i have for example light sword full ebony armormuramasa blade etc and i haven't ELVEN BOW and after import i have it, strange...because name of my save was CRUSADER.END and i remeber that i have these things...i don't know where is problem...any other ideas?

I un- and re-install the game bot it doesn't work, and it seems the file wizardry8.exe is damaged because the text which appear
in item info does not fit for example "range: 1-7 " it seems like
the weapons info and armor or something info was exchange...
How can i solve this problem?

Like they say, a dead member causes trouble. Something apparently happened to your import, like you got a different file than you thought you were saving, or it corrupted itself. Try saving in W-7 with a different file name, before the final battle, and then importing by copying the file into the Import folder of W-8 from outside the game.

First see whether you can play W-8 without an import. If not, then you do have a problem with the disks W-8 is on.

I try save in w7 a different file name but it doesn't work,
and i try also playing W8 without( with members which are available in the game ) import and it doesn't work too...I'm hopeless...
Something what i can to do ? Thanks

"Import problems?"

There are known issues if you import dead party members ....

I resolved that issue by rerunning the last battle in Wiz 7 (at the New City station, the last Kui Saa Ka swing killed someone) and didn't let anyone die on my second try.

The character that transferred was a no profession no race fighter (used to be a valkyrie) who could not be attacked. The game went nuts at promotion time. I think it 3-5 promotions in a row then locked up.

"More Imports"

By the way, you can import a W-7 party at any stage of W-7 by copying them into the W-8 Imports folder. You can also start W-8 at the Umpani camp or the T'rang hideout by selecting the alternate endings to W-7.
And you can import parties of any size, down to solo.
